Thats what my plan is. Just holding me over until i can afford an m7 splitter. I imagine this would hold up to the weather pretty well since it is designed to be on the bottom of garage doors which gets wet and faces the elements.

I love the look--well done
You could still try it, my car scrapes countless times everyday and its still on
I'm kinda suprised acutally

There's a little peice further back, under the car that sticks down further - I bet THAT'S what is scaping - mine is chewed all to hell, but since it's beneath the car I never see it. If the "chin" were scraping, you'd see it, believe me.

Unfortunately, both scrape! Mostly the air dam in front of the X-brace (which also scrapes...), but also the underside of the front lip.
I think the 215/40 tires lower my car a little more than it looks by the wheel gap, but it sure is low.

This mod deserves a proper name. Like the "Joey mod", should we call it the EDM Mod? Or maybe use the OP's first name? I wonder if anyone with R56 has done this mod.

Dude I know how that's like; similar thing happened to me in a different forum, though the topic was about a fix and not a mod. I didn't get "hated" on, I just got brushed off since majority of them believed in a theory/probable cause, whereas I investigated the problem and discovered the cause, and eventually fixed the problem. But still no one took my advice since I did it alone, and they continued with their theory until recently the issue came up again. But now someone else is taking credit for the discovery and solution I came up with six years ago.

Wow, I think I need to go get some cheese with this whine.

You are correct sir. No benefit what so ever.. Except for looking cool and being probably the cheapest mod.

Nah... the foam would bend under very little pressure. I don't think actually driving would make it fold under (I'd like someone to drive ahead of me at speed just to confitm that) but that's about all you could say about it.

I am planning on putting a little peice of this in the rear later for a different reason (stealthing some underbody lighting) and that MAY help with the rear window dirt issue, but I'm in no way counting on it.

I actually remembered this mod from earlier--and am surprised that it's received such a positive response now whereas before it was essentially ignored. Just goes to show how important timing is...

i can understand the hate...

Well I can see how this mod could receive the hate. None of you guys have slammed your MINIs low enough so that the rubber will be able to properly form an insulating seal that will resist moisture and keep out the bugs.

Ask this guy to help with the install. He LOOKS like he knows what he's doing!

Kidding aside, it should be called the LUXmod.

hey, i dont know if people know or not, but the Mazda guys have been doing this for quite some time. So dont look at me as if im trying to bite anything or take credit for this as my own idea (merely my interpretation), as this is old news. I was trying to just have a MINI diy made for it.

So we can just call it the "whoeverisgoingtoclaimthisMOD" or just the Home Depot Lip as it has been for a while, instead of raging some "i did it first" garbage.

there is always going to be someone that claims they had the idea first. I saw this back in 2000 on a neon forum. maybe we should call it the peonMod. so another great debate...similar to that of the telephone....do you credit the person who invented it, or the person who made it popular?

PS. the mustache guy is my new hero

Has anyone put this under the rocker panel? It looks like it might actually cut down on the road grime on the side of the body.

Just a thought.

I feel ya EDM, I wasn't implying that you were "stealing" anything or taking credit.

HomeDepot Mod sounds good...but the MustacheMod® has a better ring to it.
