YES that is IT!
Do you keep pictures of everyone's mini on file????
I like the way it looks. Carole says that when she drives it she gets tons of looks and comments.
When she drives her deluxe Mercedes---Nobody notices.

I had a double blue mini spotting day!!! First time.
Over in Kona I spotted a indi blue/white (british flag on roof) cooper with a design painted on the rear side window- "Blue Water Hunter" ? I think- it was hard to see as it passed in the opposite direction at lunchtime.
Then on the way home from the airport I spotted a indi blue/white cooper with IJ yellow ball and sticker on the rear window headed to pearl city area on the freeway (HI plates NBB 008). He was driving fast!!!

Why, did you sell it? Wasn't that the demo mini you were going to add the JCW kit to? Maybe you added the kit already and are driving it around. Westside- that means Kapolei or Waikele, Waianae or MINIlani?
I will be looking.

I saw two today within a half mile of each other headed east on H1 freeway.
One was a nice british racing green/white Cooper S with HI vanity plates MS-PRSS
And then a pepper white/black cooper with darkly tinted windows
Both female drivers.

The BRG/W MCS "MS-PRSS" lives about two blocks from me. Haven't seen the driver yet, though.

*note* need to nonchalantly drive MINIhune over there and introduce ourselves and the Hawaii region board on MCO

After adding my Quicksilver exhaust I cannot nonchalantly do anything anymore. So why not break out the sticks of dynamite and C4 explosives and just invite ourselves right over there.

By the way tonight I spotted a very new fellow mini motorist on the roads here:
my daughter just learned how to drive stick tonight. Took her up to a dead end street high up in Minilani Mauka
and practiced shifting and using the clutch and throttle for about half an hour then she drove the LOUD MCS home in good shape. NO dents!!! Simply amazing. More practice tomorrow, maybe she will have enough energy to try 3rd gear. 2nd gear can go far with a 6800 rpm redline you know.

I spotted two minis today. My lucky day!
In the morning at the stereo (money robbing) shop I spied:
A Dark silver/DS MCS with 17" R90 two piece wheels with full aero package and grills and painted wheel arches.
Essentially he got "the works". The speakers were already upgraded to Boston separates in front and two ways in the rears. Then the NAV system was being modified to run a video signal (DVD) using a separate tuner. So the NAV screen would do double duty as DVD player screen and NAV screen-not at the same time. Plus amps were being added using a custom built rear boot shelf. Big $$$$ full custom job. Yikes! This is a show car if I ever saw one. About 2 months old. A Baby

Then at waipio costco I saw a couple of shoppers with a Black/white Cooper with white wheels. This is a good way to shop at costco. Bring two people and buy only enough to carry in your cooper. A very wise cost containment strategy when visiting places like costco (More money robbing).

Yesterday I say an original Mini Cooper on Isenberg Street. It wasn't BRG like Philips, nor was it dark like Latka's other Mini. This one was a lighter metallic green with bonnet stripes. Where are all these original Minis coming from?

But of course! they do nice work and carry great stuff. Just bring a really fat wallet.
They were most helpful and informative.
Thanks for the referral to them.
I'm having work done on friday. No sticker on the car to let anyone know what is inside-
Secret. I will be going for the steath look for audio. However if I turn it up I will hardly remain stealthy.
Oh Bother (as pooh would say).
On the other hand my Quicksilver exhaust should drown out any blasting stereo sound coming from the interior so I think I am still OK all in all.

Bring a fat wallet? Why, Hank takes plastic. He did the sound system in my Corvette and my brothers Vette years ago. He also did stuff for my Mustang and BMW.

From the sounds of it, I think that was John B.s car you saw there. Probably one of the only cars he's had that was not metallic burgundy.

Yes-"fat wallet" is just an expression.
I was also thinking of writing "thick credit card"
Yes and double yes, It was John's MCS. The same one you were talking about the other day with all the upgrades he was showing at the post IJ rally. One sweet Mini- alrighty.
You are a "bad" influence on me-alrighty.

since there's some talk about stereo stuff...

minihune, will you be getting a battery upgrade to handle your stereo's power output? if so, which one? perhaps optima red top? any other electrical mods to ensure your stereo doesn't drain your battery or stress out the electrical system? and if modifications are aplenty, how will the warranty be affected if at all?

thanks, i too plan on upgrading to some modest sounds. not competition stuff but only for my personal, not outsiders, listening pleasure, since i've gotta drive about 40-60 miles a day. and i, too, wanna have the stealth look.

i know island sound has been recommended, but i do believe they are quite expensive. i've gone in the past to security and sound, right across island sound at their previous location, because i know the owner. they also have been recommended by justin, along with progressive. any other places that members have experience with?

Yup- it's expensive stuff. I would say that a reasonable plan of action is to keep the stock radio. If you have HK then great. Get used to your sounds. It's not bad and for most uses will work fine. I spent a good deal of time listening to the stock radio in a loaner cooper I got for a day. It was fine, but not as good in clarity and for volume without distortion. There are limits that are reached earlier. Check out the audio topic section where we have a running discussion on stereo.
If you upgrade the speakers only you will find that the sound is marginally better depending on which speakers you pick. Most likely it will be marginal because the stock speakers are not that bad. To get better results you will need a much better speaker- more efficient, larger and one that can move more air. Might cost more-maybe not. Might need a special custom adapter or spacer for the front door. The rear is easy if you stick with the 6x9 size.

If you want even better sound you will need a separate amp either with the stock speakers or with upgraded speakers.
Once I get my audio upgrade on friday you can contact me (send me PM if you are interested). I'll meet you and we can listen to your favorite CD. You decide if the results suit you.

Island sound is capable. They are a pro shop for audio. Quality and experience counts.
Security and sound put in my MB Quarts. They are also very good and capable. Slightly different products. They had a $400 Alpine amp that was 35Wx4 channels with one year warranty and $200 to install with converters. Quality and reliability were less than the xtant but it was an option.

I don't think I need a battery upgrade yet. the battery is small. If it gets used up I will upgrade later probably within the first two years. I don't really play the radio that much when I am not going. Only to play around. I can ask this question on friday. When the car is going the electrical system and alternator of the car will handle all the power needs of the car. The battery runs the electrical only if the engine is off. Should be fine.

Any more discussion should go to a different thread or PM me.

Well Island sound is still working on John B.'s car for the 2nd? day. I'll be there tomorrow spying the results. I guess they get to keep it for a ?week???
It was a glimpse of what a MCS in pepper white might look like-just add the stripes and scoop.

Just spotted a BRG/B or B/B Mini heading toward Kipapa Gulch on Kam Hwy. Passed too quickly to see if driver waved, but I did.

We should make a small mini logo flag to attach to Sadie's antenna that reads-
Wave and honk if you drive a MINI!

I spotted yesterday a Dark silver and white MCS with white bonnet stripes parked at the curb outside of the Hungry Lion in the Pali/Nuuanu area

Today at lunch time in Kapolei headed to the police station I saw a silver/black MCS with S-lites (driver had matrix like dark shades and was busy with driving- I would have to jump in front of his car to attract attention- I was on foot). An old timer HI plates JY-

Or it could be one of those cars MINI of Hawaii sold to mainland customers.

I didn't think people in and @ Modesto drove anything but trucks and SUVs.

Spotted a nice little CR/B with Gecko on the dash, Aloha seat belt covers, & a Hawaii green turtle sticker on the back. Funny it had a MO license plate. Whoops, it was mine
