Yes it was big Kahuna's. Not many pepper white MCs floating around in Minilani.
If I see you driving around Sadie, I'll be sure to wave.

It was truly cool to come out and get in Sadie after a showing of Matrix Reloaded--with The Italian Job Trailer before it. More people than usual pointed at her and grinned.

Yep-
Just saw matrix reloaded on monday and got the IJ trailer too. I would expect more interest in the cooper at the dealership as a result of the movie. And Sadie- did you stick around for the end of Matrix reloaded- past the 10 minutes of credits? If you did you got to see something. Did you see it? I saw it because I routinely stay behind for all of the credits after every show and more often than not there is something for me. I'm sure the studios do that on purpose.
Whoa- Neato

Nope, Minihune, I didn't see it. Knew it was there and intentionally didn't stay. Just like I don't watch "coming next week" at the end of TV shows. I prefer to be surprised. I usually am a stay-to-the-end person, having spent so many years in the film/TV industry, but the people with me wanted to leave. And Sadie was lonesome.

In town yesterday and got a grin and wave from a BRG/W and a CR/CR. Saw a PW/PW with four adults in it on Nimitz downtown, but they didn't see me.

Tonight's the night we'll all see lots of Minis! Wheee

Tonight I saw Sadie with at least 50 of her buddies cruising around Waikiki-
Round and round in circles they went, radios a buzzing and horns a blazing. Even other
people were honking- so I honked back and gave them the "three fingers down-M sign"
for MINIlani- home of the mililani MINIs. There were tons of minis- I could not believe my eyes
Welcome back Kohu'ulaMINI and Beastmaster. We missed you

Thanks minihune for the welcome back! Well, in the Cupertino/Sunnyvale area, I saw maybe 4 MINIs during the whole week I was there. Nothing but sport brutes on the freeways and roads.

What did I see on Friday? There was a VR/VR MC w/ color coded aero package at McKinley High and there was the B/B MCS on the way to Hawaii Kai in the afternoon.

Tonight at 7pm I trailed a dark silver/white MCS with sports package on the H-1 headed east with darkly tinited glass-I could hardly see that he was on his blue lighted cell phone. HI plates JYN 357.

Saw an electric blue / white Cooper S on the H-3 headed to the Marine Base yesterday morning. I was in the black / black MCS... uhm... and passed them at quite an ungentlemanly speed. I did have enough time to give them a quick shaka out the sunroof before I took the Kaneohe Bay drive offramp

Seems HPD Solo Bike guys are having a convention on the H3 / H1 lately! Ugh... thank goodness for cruise control.

I am debating on if I should move to Cali or Hawaii, I was wondering if a few of my Hawaii motorers can answer a few questions..

How are jobs in Hawaii? Easy to attain? I sell MINIS right now

How is the rent?

How much does it cost to have your car shipped from the states?

Thanks.

Our job market sucks, but it does in CA too. Mini of Hawaii just added an MA and I think they're full up, but ask them.

Rents/mortgages are cheaper here than in SoCal or NoCal. Outside of the LA or SF areas, prices are somewhat cheaper. But I lowered my cost of living by 1/3 from LA when I moved back here 4 years ago. Utilities are cheaper, sales tax is half, property taxes much, much lower. Gasoline is cheaper ($1.99/gal for premium at Costco here vs. $2.25/gal in LA just last month). Grocieries are much higher here. Restaurant prices about equal to LA/SF or less. No heating bills here (most residences don't even have heating) and you can get away with no a/c if you have good cross ventilation.

And car insurance costs are about 1/3 those in California!

Any car shipped west coast to Honolulu is $800.

Note that there is no authorized service on any island but Oahu, though they are trying to work out something. It is currently a 2-week barge ride to get your Mini to the dealer if you live on any other island.

Hope this helps.

Antmini - fyi, Hawaii is one of the fifty states. You might want to be aware that like in all parts of the country there are regional cultural difference and one thing that some of the "locals" get p.o.'d is when the "mainland" is termed the "states".

Take a long vacation here or just pack up and go. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out, but at least you tried.

Anyway, bringing it back to this thread...saw a CR/W MC w/ roof rack drving down King St crossing Ward after 6:00pm today.

wassup mini owners...i read this whole thread, all 4 pages or so, and nobody mentioned me. i always drive from east honolulu side thru town M-F at about 7:15-8:00 AM. MWF i'm in kaneohe near Kahuhipa and Kamehameha, where i proudly display my SG/B with roof racks, chrome trim, legal tint, and 16" ers. TTh i'm motoring in the wahiawa area in the AM and somewhere between there and Hawaii Kai in the early PM.

I have seen all of you i'm sure from time to time, as i'm all over the island for work. I do see a SG/W on Kalanianaole coming into town on the weekday AM drive into town. and my older bro has got a EB/W going in the same direction. in fact, his mini is probably the reason why i got mine about 6-8 months later. unfortunately i wasn't able to get one quickly enough to get a numbered mini owner shirt - they only went up to 300 or so.

anyways, if i should not see you guys wave or flash, please accept my apologies now. i will try to respond back though.

and for gas...i go aloha in kaneohe on kam and kahuhipa for $2.01 since i got an aloha gas card. prior to the war, i believe mililani aloha was the cheapest. unfortunately it was so long ago, i forget how much it was. but i do know it was at least as cheap, if not cheaper, than costco.

aloha

Good to hear from you kbseto-
Welcome to the Hawaii section of MCO-
We are having a get together his sunday at the Mini of HI dealership about 10am to watch the original Italian Job on the widescreen via DVD. You're invited and we plan to have some drinks and doughnuts to Boot.

The SG/W cooper you mentioned driving into town might belong to one of my co-workers. I have not seen you- I would remember a SG/B with roof racks. I will wave if I find you.

Gas is cheapest at Costco about $1.99 or less for premium last time I looked in Waipio. $2.04 per gallon for the same stuff at Aloha in Mililani.

FYI. The new Unocal next to the McCully Library carries 100 octane race gas in their pump! Unfortunately, it is $6.00 a gallon!

At that price, what would be the advantage over adding and different octane booster and isn't that just helpful for decreasing knocks and pings? I mean if I use 92 octane and 100 octane can I tell the difference in my MCS? Surely there is a performance difference when using 87 vs 92 octane- also you can just add moth ***** to up the octane.

Your car may run a little stronger, but it's probable not worth the difference in co$t You could probably use octane booster and get the same effect.

Saw Carole Kai driving her VR/VR MC yesterday.

I bought my MCS within a week of Carole. I was test driving when I saw her car. I talked to her and her husband about their mini. It is a VR/VR with side skirts and painted wheel arches. She had ordered something else maybe even silk green and could not wait when she saw that VR with custom paint. I think it looks rather good myself. Her husband had fun driving it around the first few days-instead of his Mercedes which Carole had to drive. Oh well, fighting over driving the new car I guess
