originally I was selling to buy your MINI!!! Then i wanted the Cabrio...but now I've decided to move away from MINIs.

To be totally honest (knowing this won't help with my sale) my MINI has been in and out of service a lot and i'm just tired of it. I love my MINI, I love all MINIs, but I can't afford to spend this amount of time taking my car in for servicing. I just got my car back from yet another power steering problem (rack replaced AGAIN)...and it's back in again for battery issues. This is the 2nd time I'm having issues with my battery (3rd if you count the Zippy's incident! ).

I really wish I could afford to get a 2005 (which seem much more reliable) however, I really can't afford one (even a base model cooper) so I'm afraid I'll be getting an............... (scroll down if you dare)

i'm in my milk truck almost every day ; i hardly drive my other car. the thought of getting a new and improved MINI has crossed my mind and we joke about it all the time but i think i'll pass. i would, however, love to try out one of the new mcs' with lsd! get one!

 

hey t...dirk called me yesterday to tell me about your xb...he saw it on fh. I would TOTALLY love to buy your xb, as I suspect you've taken really good care of it...but that still leaves me with my MINI that I NEED to sell (or trade in) before getting my xb.

hmmmm......i'll be posting my MINI all over the place and putting a sign on my car...if I can sell it to a private buyer before you sell your xb...i'll call you.
the new MINIs are super reliable...if you test drive an 05 mcs with lsd...you might have to get one!!! I really wish I could afford to get a new MINI, but money is tight right now!

 

good luck selling your car! u should probably try the honolulu classifieds as i think most people will look their first. if you do end up trading in, i wonder if they'll give you a decent value? i would guess low blue book?

hmmm, maybe i'll take a MINI test drive if they let me into the building . all i know is that the 05s cost a pretty penny!

that's right, i'm bumping this thread for a reason. I've narrowed down my search for a replacement vehicle and will be seriously shopping this weekend. I might have to order my new car which gives me about 12 weeks to sell my MINI.

i won't get into what my choices are but I will say that a new MINI is possible, but not on the current list.

my power steering rack has been working like a champ, my gas mileage is up to 18mpg and has gone as high as 24mpg. it's clean...errr...ok, so it's not clean right now, but I'll certainly clean it before I sell it. if my exhaust hasn't been sold by then, I may just throw it in with the MINI if the buyer wants it.

if you have had such a terrible time with your MINI and you have had to take it into service so much, then cant you envoke the lemmon law?

 

there's certain things you need to do to qualify your car to be a lemon. I'm pretty certain my MINI does not meet those qualifications. try doing a search either on NAM or on the internet and look up lemon law information and you'll find that it's not a fun process.

yah, and thanks...i'm sure hearing the word lemon is going to create great demand for my MINI!

i had a long day of car shopping. man, this is the life. test drive after test drive... i finally narrowed down my car choices and am working on trying to figure out which one I want more. this week i'll spend a few more days at both dealerships looking then negotiating price and trade-in value.

i'm crossing my fingers that my experience is nothing like the last time where they said, "you wanna trade your car in?" and I said, "yah!" and they said, "what kind of car you got?" and I said, "a MINI." and they said, "oooh, that's a hard sell, let me check with my manager...yah, the highest we can offer you is $13.5k" and I said, "WTF????" and walked out.

 

hey keiki, did you see/hear/read that thread about the guy in florida considering a used 6k miles '05 mcs jcw for ~$22k-24k? he's sounds kinda hesitant about getting it. it's a hyperblue/white i believe. a killer deal, as long it checks out. that's cheaper than my '03 mcs off the lot w/o the jcw!

lessee...were you test driving on the ala mo blvd area? or beretania st area? or the kapiolani blvd area? hints, hints, hints?

 

no hints...i'll just tell you. I'm looking at either a Scion xB or a Honda Element. I like both very much. I'm leaning toward the Element...but the xB is extremely practical in that it's inexpensive and claims 30mpg!!! The element is just a few thousand more but claims only 20mpg. The Element is safer and the design will outlast the xB's design. Both are much cheaper insurance wise than my MINI. Monthly payments on both are about the same and less than my MINI. Both don't require premium gas. Both are spacious and comfy. The Element I'm looking at is 4WD which is perfect since I LOVE to camp and would be able to go to kaena point!

anyways...at this point, it'll come down to how much they'll offer me on my trade-in. i'm crossing my fingers! if I have time, I'll probably visit both dealerships again today.

my son is growing and the MINI is getting too small too fast. I really wish I could get a new one...it's in my budget to do so, BUT, I want more space to haul my kid and his friends around town. right now in the MINI, it's not possible.

 

6 months from my original post, i still have my box...been meaning to sell it but i've been lazy. hehe.

if you're interested in a used xb, let me know...i'll probably let it go for less than what you're asking for your mini . it's an 05 with less than 11,000 miles (the most miles i've ever put on a car!). we take it everywhere b/c it's easy to drive, is happy with any gas octane, and has great gas mileage. i've got no mods (except a cai) and am getting about 28-29+ mpg, mixed street and freeway driving.

 

t...i would love to buy yours, but i would NEED someone to buy mine first. if I can sell mine to a private party, I'll let you know.

otherwise, i'm stuck trying to trade it in!
