So, I saw the poll results. All of those who voted, voted for a monthly meet. Can we start a discussion on which weekend, where, what time?

so...at least 9 of us are interested, hopefully more once word gets out a bit more.

let's start with march, as we just started the new month.

i think i can pretty much make any weekend day, except for this sat. any time, am, mid-day, pm.

so count me in, as long as it's not this sat.

I think anotherminiman is mistaken about the M&M. The every other month schedule was set back in January. However, the changes and elimination of M&M took place after that announcement. It would be nice if MoH has M&M, but it seems the cadre of enthusiasts are able to move on.

keikilee,

Some ideas for the group.

Decide on whether Saturday or Sunday works best.
Set a time. Consider traffic picks up at midday.
Meet at a place that has available parking and also scenic so the wait is pleasant
Pick a route that could vary but may go along the coast for a nice view
Pack some snacks or drinks for a mid drive stop.
Consider a stop at a restaurant or food place.
Our cruise is for a safe and sane drive. (Save your speed for Autocross)

I work every other saturday morning.
Would be good to pick sundays that are not autocross dates (april 4)

i think it might be fun to alternate between cruises and other activities (dont ask me for suggestions for other activities b/c i don't know who'd be interested...but i think everyone is down for shooting the *****). hehehhe.

keikilee,

For most of the cruises we have done in the past it always seemed to be at bad times for you.
So you can pick the day and time that fits your schedule. Pick a place to meet to start and maybe a route which we can loosely follow. We can have cell phones and family radio to keep in contact or even meet up with latecomers.

I think stopping for something to eat in the middle or the end would be nice. Probably on the windward side or just pick a place.

What about mixing driving with a sport event. Softball, basketball, volleyball, bowling? Anything.
We had an idea to drive out to the central Oahu Waipio park- there is alot of space out there and big parking lots.

We can also do a Movie at a private residence and potluck a lunch. It doesn't have to always be a MINI movie.
Just some ideas. Have fun planning.

hmmm...other activities?

do i hear kb? as in...karaoke bar?

sushi night...i still gotta try that all you can eat good stuff.

mini and surfing?

mini and movie at the wallace theatres? i heard they're all like $1. $0.50 if matinee. i believe this includes kailua and restaurant row.

mini and shoot the *****? uhmm...ok.

keikilee, take charge. go ahead and pick a date and time. then we'll plan ahead accordingly.

You know....if it were up to me, I wouldn't even do a cruise....I'd just do a monthly meet. Then after wards, if people want to take a drive around the island, whatever. I'm not much of a cruise person unless I'm riding a motorcycle. I just want a set time that we can all count on to get together. You don't need to show up to EVERY meet, but at least we all know where to find eachother if we do want to meet.

here's my suggestions. We set up a monthly meet. Every 3rd weekend (so that it doensn't conflict with SCCA)? Every other month we alternate between Saturday and sunday. We choose between different parks or parking lots to meet at on different parts of the island to be fair to everyone. We can meet at lunch time 11a (bring your own food) to, as mini-t put it, shoot the ****. Then, if you want to cruise after lunch (to pahke's?) then you can if you want....but the people can decide at that time (or it can be predetermined and coordinated separately). We come up with a schedule, stick to it, post it here on NAM and on the Yahoo group, and that'll be the end of it.

Let's continue to discuss....keep on coming up with ideas. We can even weave some friday or saturday nights in there as beastmaster suggested to go to strip bar...oops, I mean drag strip! (I know that's what you wanted to say, huh, beastmaster!)

sounds good, keikilee! a set time/place is good....maybe have a sign up a few weeks prior to the event to make sure that it doesn't end up being a "just me and my mini" event.

i think the strip bar event will definitely bring many owners out.

Geez guys, it's drag strip as in 1/4 mile drags, not strip bars. I have no reason to go to those places as I don't date strippers anymore.

So the third weekend will be next week Saturday or Sunday. Just set a place and time and I'm sure people will show up. Don't forget Saturday, March 20 is Steak and BJ Day!

keikilee,

I like your suggestion. Lets try it out.
Third weekend makes it March 20th Saturday or March 21st Sunday.
Which of those days is good for you?
Meet at Magic Island? Top of tantalus? Pali Lookout? The park by John Dominis?
Pick a time.

How does one celebrate Steak and BJ Day properly?
Does BJ stand for Beef Jerky?

Hehehehe. Steak and BJ Day is the male version of Valentine's Day. On Feb 14, women get wined and dined. On March 20, guys get their own day. We get a good steak and a BJ. Btw, BJ does not stand for beef jerky. You could always contact mini-t about this day as I explained it to her back in January.

Brad,
So as not to confuse you (and me), I changed my NAM account to the same name as my Yahoo for 808 motoring.

Previously BLLWNKL (just joined and winnowing down the number of names and passwords I have to remember). I had my Yahoo name before I had a desire to join a group. Then bought the MINI and struggling with naming it. (You suggested Nugget or Nougat.)
Here's the baby.
