Palo Uber Forged Wheels?

Has anyone purchased a set of the Palo Uber "Signature" Forged Wheels?
I was wondering if any NAM members have had any experience with this company. I have questions about the overall quality and performance of these wheels , especially their fitment on a GP? Curious what finish (gray or black) would best accent the "Thunder Blue" paint on the GP. Any input on this topic would be greatly appreciated. http://1346843.estore.networksolutio...=Store+Catalog

Thanks

Just pulled the trigger on a set of these in 17'' for the sweet GP. Love the GP rims but wanting to preserve them + tired of the harsh runflats. 14 lbs and with the NAM Kit #4 pricing, it was a no brainer.

These very similar to the Volk CE37's except for the rim being satin finish + half the price.

Here's how they look on a beige Mini with the rims in Winter Black.

me thinks these have been licensed to palouber...
id personally get the sportmax's. been in business for 30 years, same specs, same weight, same color, minus the PU hardware and minus the PU cost. it looks like you will need new hardware either way

Uber Forged Rims

Im glad you guys like the rims...we are selling to the NAM members for a few dollars less than we sell to the mini showrooms we deal with. we always have the nam kit prices on our web site for almost our entire product range. we dont think you should have to wait for group buys that take forever....we have been in business since 2002 in the uk and have been here in the usa for over two years. we truely do have the finest quality, and have product no one else has, for example we have had 14mx1.25 tuner lugs for the last six months grade 10.3.....Our colours are totally unique due to Uber determining each rims design and then developes the colour for it..see palouber.com and read the story behind our leader, besides sir patrick..we just got in our new street performance rims, on our site, designed exclusively for extreme street use, which requires significant engineering differences than track use rims..
anyway, we here for you guys, and always want to know what you want..

These are not our rims I can assure you, if you read the legal publications you will note a filing by the palo uber london company for design infringement. i would suggest you compare the two side by side before you make a potentially damaging remark..Bryce Smythson, managing director, the Palo Uber London Company

Bryce,
this is a public forum... my statement is purely my opinion.

again, id personally get the sportmax's. they almost look the same as your rims without the cost.

but then again, aside from your polished lip they sure do look like the Konig heliums,

which sure do look a LOT like the volk ce28s...

i know that there are minor details that separate the volks from the konigs from the sportmaxs from the PaloUbers... im just helping my fellow motorers with options. They will in turn make their own decisions as to what they want to purchase.

Thanks to all for your opinions and input! I think they look like a high quality rim and should look great on a GP.

Patrick.... That's great news! Can't wait to see them on your GP. As usual, I assume you did all your thorough research regarding offset and different bolt size pertaining to the GP. Send me a PM to let me know when you get them mounted. I'd love to see them in person. Congrats!!

just an obervation the palo uber wheels, if they are mini exclusive tuner, why do their wheels not just have a single set of 4 lug holes in them? leads me to believe these are another wheel simply repackaged for palo uber. but i may be completely wrong.

I'd like to chime in... The finish on the Sportmax wheels ARE different. They are also more expensive at the few places I found them for sale online than the Palo Ubers. The question about the number of holes is an excellent one... however, having 4 holes only would change the appearance of the wheel, which is pretty nice how they are IMO.

Personally, even if one company was making them and sourcing them to multiple companies... I don't really care. It's done all over the place in many industries.

What I do like is how helpful Bryce and Sean were on the phone when I ordered my Ubers on Friday. I'll be sure to post up a full report when they arrive with pics.

Edit: I'd also like to add the offsets are different for these rims. 38 for the Sportmax..(Other sites say 40 ) 42 for the Ubers. And I was wrong, there are a few places with prices a little better than the ubers on those wheels. Seeing other wheels sportmax makes, I'd say the possibility exists they are mearly a knock-off company.

Nice website find...their prices are great! I was really torn between the Ubers and the Motegi 6 spoke Tracklites. In the end I chose the ubers because I haven't seen many like it on any car, unlike the Motegi.

Are the Sport Maxx and Konig's actually forged? Or are they just cast knock offs of the Volk CE28s? I'm guessing the later......

If the Uber is forged, it's possible that Volk is supplying Uber with these wheels; they have lowered their prices a lot recently, and always do custom offsets, and that would explain why there isn't an exclusive bore and hub for a MINI fitment.....

I agree... I do not like to see another set of holes on my wheels, I think it looks cheap/rice/weak!

Interesting; forged wheels are becoming very inexpensive recently.

I agree though that an 8 hole pattern does look silly on a 4 lug car; even worse is that it's not even meant to fit other patterns, so why not just do a 4 hole....

This is only speculation since I don't own either the "Palo Uber" wheel or the Sport max 003's but take a look at where it looks like something is engraved. Coincidence?

just my .02 on Palo Uber.

They may cost a little more, but customer service is great and they keep coming out with new products no one else has to off for the Mini..

The forged rims were as follows:

14 lbs for the 17''

15 lbs for the 18''

I'd check in with Bryce or Carol for the street rims

All good feedback and well taken.

I did a lot of back and forth on what I wanted vs. what is out there.

The bottom line is you'll have to compromise in going from the GP rims to something else.

It was down to the Team Dynamic Pro Race 1's, Volk CE28N's, SSR Comps, and Palo Ubers.

The Team Dynamics and Volk CE28N's were one solid color without any chrome / satin to the rim in any way. I felt it would be a little much compared to the GP rims that show a two tone scheme.

The SSR Comps can't be found right now in 16x7 or 17x7. Looked high and low for these.

The Palo's looked better than the Volk CE28Ns because of the two tone. I had seen the Konig's and thought they were exactly the same as the Volk CE28N's and left it at that. The Konigs also appeared as one tone.

Then it was down to price and I felt the Palo Uber pricing was reasonable and certainly better than the Team Dynamics or Volks.

Didn't look into and didn't even know about the SportMaxxs.

Anyway ... all said and done, I'm looking forward to a softer ride and will post pics once mounted.

Cheers.

If someone can find out there in the internet world... I saw a Scion Xb with a GP style knock off wheel on it couple weeks ago.. they took off before I could get to it to see the brand name on it... but it was almost identical to the GP wheel... I want so I can take off my factory wheel and store them.

Really! oh how I wish you could have seen the brand. The only GP knock off I know of is Mini Worx which is only distributed over in the UK right now...

Well... Got my 17'' signature rims and had ordered them in Winter Black as opposed to the Uber grey.

I open one of the boxes and ... looks like I got anthracite grey rims.

Called up Palo Uber and I'm told they're definitely the Winter Black. It's just that Winter Black ... loks very much like a dark grey / anthracite grey.

So now I check their website and in looking up the pics of the rims ... the Uber grey looks exactly like mine.

So now I'm pretty perplexed and confused.

Anyone out there have actual pics of their own Palo Uber rims in Winter Black to show?

I'd love to compare, because right now this is not the shade of color I was expecting or wanted.

Thanks.
