Finally past the break in!

<---- What I look like right now....

I passed the 'break in mileage' yesterday about 1 mile from my freeway on-ramp on the way home from work. I had been good, not exceeding 4500 rpm or flooring it . I did both on the on ramp.....

I've had the silly grin since.

Just thought I'd share!

And, what is the break in period? I'm getting my MCS in late March, and had been curious how long it'd be until I get to the WOOT!!!! point also.

what a perfect spot to "break the barrier". The on-ramp is my favorite spot on the road to rev it up.

1250? or is it an even 1000? miles to fully lubricate/break-in the engine. During that time you are supposed to stay under 80mph, under 4500 RPM, don't fully floor it. (I didn't but new, so I might be a little wrong on some of my numbers) Break-in period is simply a time to let you engine enjoy its first breaths out of the womb that is the production facility

Does Mini require an oil change after that 1250 miles, or when is the 1st oil change? Just curious how quick I'll be making a service call.

MINI does not require an oil change until the service indicator decides it is time. Mine is tracking right towards 10,000 miles.

I'll be doing one myself in the next month, provided it ever warms above freezing up here.

1250 miles, by the way.

But some have opted to change their own oil prior to the service indicator said so, just to get the new engine grindings and dirt out of the oil. But if you do this, DO NOT reset the service indicator, or MINI will not honor it when it runs out.

yeah, 1250 is the official number. Once we hit 1250 in the wife's car, we changed the oil and went to the dyno
