Big wave..

I've had my Mini for 2 weeks today and in that time I've seen 4 other Mini's 3 of whom waved...

To the black Mini I saw on 3A this morning.. I waved back, just a bit late because I was about to turn and my hand was in use.

For the last 2 weeks, I've made a point of looking for and waving at every mini I see. NOTHING. MINI waving is officially dead in the DC area. I think there's just too many of us.

It's only official if you stop waving. Keep waving and you'll always be sending the MINI message. Some will reply some won't.

Hubby and I passed my Mini's look alike on our local Indepence Blvd. yesterday. Four lanes of traffic each way,:impatient but I wanted a wave. So I blasted the horn, which made him actually looked, and I had the hand a going in fast motion like a crazy lady. He didn't have enough time to react if he wanted to. Well, I got my have in.

The DH and I joked afterwards that he surely had to explain to his wife why some lady is waving like crazy and beeping for his attention.

I wave if I spot them in time. I dont think I have gotten a single one back. I dont care if they dont wave, at least I did my part . I did get a fellow cabrio owner with his top down ride up beside me and yell that he liked my car.

I, too, am disappointed in the waving, but I do have an excellent story to share: I have a "my other car is a cooper S" bumper sticker on my daily driver, and a fellow in a BRG MCS read it, passed me, and gave me a big thumbs up on his way by. Solid.

I only recently started taking notice of the wave factor. I've been too busy enjoying my new experience having only owned mine for a few weeks now. Over the last couple of days I've passed three, two of which waved. I even got a wave from somebody that wasn't even in a Mini. Maybe they own one and just weren't driving it at the time.

I've had some good waves lately. One 07 Oxygen Blue Cooper behind me the other day--i couldn't turn and wave, but my daughter did. Driver and passenger responded and they had huge smiles on their faces!

Last week at work I walked behind a CR Cooper. A few minutes later, I drove past it, and saw it was "THIRTEEN." I have seen his car on campus before. I honked, and we gave each other the wave/peace sign!

THIRTEEN's Cooper is Bee-youtiful!

I do my best to wave or flash my headlights at every Mini i see. I get a response about half the time.

Today i was out motoring and i ran across about 5 Minis, 3 of which waved or flashed. The last one actualy caught me with my pants down, i didnt notice him flashing his headlights until i passed him so i wasnt able to wave back.

I think drivers having there attention somewhere attributes to some of the lack of "wave factor".

I'd like to start waving at other MINI owners, but it is probably best to wait until mine actually arrives. Otherwise the MINI drivers in my town will be wondering why some guy in an Acura keeps waving at them.

If I'm not really focused on something more pressing (like negotiating tight turns at a quick clip ) I pretty much always wave & get responses back about 1/2 the time also. Sometimes I have to check myself when I'm driving my wife's Protege - other MINIs might wonder why a Protege driver is waving.

I always wave and flash lights, but over the years the response has decreased. It's a good habit now.... hopefully new folks will catch on!

Now thats the attitude we strive for...way to go![/sarcasm]

Ive kind of figured out by now who the people are locally who refuse to wave. I might not get waves from everyone but at least now i dont need to try with the select few on the list who definitely see me but refuse to wave...like that guy^

Got my first return wave today after 2+ weeks with the car...then I realized the driver was a woman I know from my swimming group so I don't think it counts...

I keep waving, and eventually a stranger will wave back...I hope.

NO, say it isn't so? You mean I have years of this to struggle through with my now 13 year old son? I was really hoping it was only a short phase.

My son points the Mini's out to me at times, usually parked somewhere with no one around to wave at.
