I'm happy to say that I got a wave from another DS MCS that was travelling behind me on my way back to work from lunch today. Funny thing is, the DS MCS had CR mirror caps... it was not a GP though... Found that out after a double take.

I waved at a MINI the other day and they looked at me strangely... then I realized that I was driving my wife's big 4-door sedan!

I wave whenever I see other Minis but sometimes they sneak up on me. Just the other day I was pulling into the fast lane and almost hit a Dark Silver MINI I didn't see (can anyone say get the wide angle mirrors?). Anyway, I pulled back and waved to say sorry, then saw it was a MINI and waved again which got a return wave along with a smile.

I had to ride side-by-side waving and honking like an idiot for about 2miles of highway today to get a wave back. But once I got that wave, we stayed side by side for about another 5 miles. Until I drove off into the distance, and onto an exit ramp.

I pulled up to a PS/B MC yesterday, honked, and waved like I was crazy. But it managed to get a beep and a wave back from the man and his wife. They looked excited about it, and I know I certainly was

I had to go downtown to get some paperwork, and as I was pulling out another MINI was trying to park between two SUVs, I rolled down the window and waved. She waved right back, and even said 'You can park them anyplace' And the guy riding with her got out and started video taping us. So I'm on film! And the only reason I saw her was because I missed my turn, and had to take the next one. Woot!

I wave and flash in U K, But you get funny looks, A lot of people have bought MINI`s and dont know what you should do if you meet another MINI.
There is the odd one that waves or flash`s back as they have had a MINI since they came out 5 years ago or have updated there`s after three years.
KEEP WAVEING AND FLASHING.

New Mini

Hi There!
Can't wait to wave at fellow mini owners! I don't see many of here in Phoenix! I'll be in an all black hard top by November!

There is one bookstore in Dallas where customized MINIs seem to congregate. I've had some very nice parking lot conversations there, comparing mods. (Barnes and Noble at 75 and Loop 12, across from Northpark Mall)

I stopped waving for a while because I didn't get responses from 2 or 3 Minis, so I didn't want to look dumb anymore.
Yesterday my faith on the wave was returned by 2 different Minis on my way home from work.
Thank you whoever you were, I'll start waving again

We feel the same way, we get all excited when we see another mini coming, we own a jeep and I don't ever remember waving to another jeep owner, but we look at it this way, wave if you want to, if not its ok because we are waving anyways

The other day on the way home from work, I had a "Five MINI drive" and saw five MINIs on my normal commute. Only one waved - so that would seem to indicate a 20% average. However, of the five, I may not have been in the field of view of a couple of them - so I choose to think that the average is much higher.

I tend to get many more waves with the top down on my cabrio - from ALL manner of cars....

Bill

When I owned a Jeep and a Land Rover, most other 4WD vehicles would wave when I waved.

Now that I drvie a MINI, I wave at every MINI that passes by me and out of about 10 i've passed in the past month, 3-4 waved back...

I think all the newies don't know that you're supposed to wave when you see another mini.
I live in Albuquerque and when i first got my car every mini would wave at me now...no one waves, the other day i saw like 4 minis on my way to the mall and only one waved...Also i've noticed that mini drivers don't pay attention for other minis out there. When I drive I'm always looking for minis I spot them pretty easily...
Ok Albuquerque minis: when you see another mini, and specially a purple haze mini with a garfield on the back....wave!!!

I got a Peace sign from an Audi guy over a month ago. I waved to him back so I thought that was cool.

On a side note about waving, I find myself waving at other MINIs that not only are driving by and they are waving back too, but other MINIs that are parked or MINIs that are on the otherside of the highway stuck in traffic. Seems strange, but then again I'm sure some people understand.

I'm sure this is similiar to motorcycle riders and some will and some won't, I just keep waving regardless ;o)

Just don't forget sometimes we're busy navigating (fast).

You never know.

I wave only if the other person does.

That might change.

This afternoon I learned my uncle's soul departed his body for the next great adventure. It was sudden, completely unexpected. I was fine at work, to busy to think much. Even at the gym I held up. But on my ride home, in the quiet of the Mini, full moon overhead, I lost it. Really lost it, crying and remembering all the good. Then I noticed a car hanging on my left. It passed, and went in front of me. A black Mini convertible. Then it got back into the left lane and slowed to be beside me. I was exiting then and got The Wave. On a sad night in my life that silly little wave really cheered me up.

So to the driver of the black Mini convertible with PA plates on 95 this evening by the Ewing/Pennington exit, a huge thank you. You made my night.

Uncle Jer...I love you. And miss you. Enjoy the journey.

I live in San Jose, CA and motor all over the Bay Area: I'm averaging 1 return wave in 10 offered waves. Not a great ratio

When I first picked up my MINI last January I was getting 3 return waves for every 5 offered

A different car and a different time, but when I had my Suzuki Samuri (1988), fellow Samuri drivers would "beep" their horns and wave at each other. Died out in a little over a year.

I'd say the MINI has had a pretty good run (IMHO) to even still get any waves 5+ years later.... but then MINI owners are special any way!

I'm sitting a stop light in San Clemente, CA and sitting across the light from me is a MINI convertible, both the passenger and driver were looking at my hardtop....and then I remembered my note to self, "wave at other MINI drivers". I could tell they were looking at me because they had to turn their heads to notice my car. They had this uncertainty in their faces, so I INITIATED my FIRST EVER WAVE to another MINI driver.

The passenger waved back, but not the driver. It wasn't a homerun experience, but so far I have a perfect batting average.

That's probably because the horn stopped working after a year (along with the heater, and the radio, and the engine) (I had a Samuri...it came with my wife. Some dowry, huh?)
