MINIs are pretty rare here, but I always wave or flash ... sometimes it's difficult to see a wave with the sun or light reflection, but can definitely see a flash!

I waved day before yesterday and the on-coming MINI waved back. It felt good. I'm going to do it more.

I am waving all over the place as I am seeing plenty of MINIs in Greenville. I usually see one or more per day. Most of the time I can't tell if the other MINI driver waves back or not.

i saw 4 other mini's today, 2 waved back(guys), 2 didnt(women). I'm not trying to say anything but i think the 2 who didnt were on their cell phones. I have noticed Younger ladies tend to wave more than older ladies. Hopefully thats just here.

Today I honked my horn in greeting at what seemed to be a somewhat confused older woman (ETA: driving a red MCC with its top up)

Monday I waived at another MINI after dinner. Funny thing was, I was in the passenger side and the passenger in the other MINI waved back. My wife looked at me and said, "What I have I gotten myself into."

I always honk or wave but the only time I don't is when I'm not really paying attention or looking to see another fellow Mini Motorist.

i think thats the case for most Mini drivers. After i made my post yesterday i passed another Mini and both driver and passenger waved back at me. I love driving a Mini.

I pulled up next to a convertible MINI on Tuesday, rolled down my window, smiled REAL big and said "NICE CAR!" and the (older gentleman) that was driving the convertible just looked at me and said (very blandly) "thanks." (this was in Richmond VA)

And then today, I am next to another convertible, and she (the driver) says "HI!" real big, smile, etc. and I returned the same. (this was in Virginia Beach, VA) So I guess it depends on the driver??

No son's are different it's just starting by 17 you don't know or understand anything, this lasts into 30 something.

Waving

I live in NJ and got my mini Oct 06. I feel there were more wavers back then. In the past three months, I've seen more mini's on the road and the new mini drivers don't seem to know about the thumbs up or waving. I guess they don't know about this site. On a drive up to New Hampshire this summer, I experienced seeing more knowledgeable drivers and wavers. It was fun. Let's keep it up, maybe the new drivers will get the picture.

I have owned air-cooled VW's and that crowd definitely waves. The motorcyclist wave when I'm on my bike...MINIs...not much of a waving crowd. At least they aren't like the "Corvette crowd". NO ONE waved when I had mine 10 or 12 years ago. I think we need to give the MINI some more time for some of the drivers to get the "club" feel of owning a rare and cool car.

I waved at Dr. Obnxs last night and got a wave back...except I don't think he was the one driving!

It was dark though, so I guess I could be wrong...

I was at the light and looked to the left to see a little boy in a pickup truck waving! It was so sweet and affirming.

In WA state, using the horn without sufficient cause/need is grounds for a ticket :(. I actually saw a driver being pulled over for a brief honk at a traffic light.

Don't wave ...SALUTE! It really freaks out the non-waving crowd. Cold, smug, self-centered, aloof, arrogant, petty and fearful as they are... they just don't know what to make of it. And its a change of pace for the wavers out there!

Hey, Jeep folks give each other the finger (not THAT finger ...the pointer finger from the hand on top of the wheel). Harley riders do the low, palm-down, left handed wave (but would never be cought dead waving to a rider of something "less" than a Harley). "'Vettes" and Cobra drivers give their fellows the nod.

Are MINI people somehow too cool for school?

I hope not. We need a unique greeting. I say, SALUTE your fellow MINI driver. S/He deserves it.

I hope it's not dead, it's just a good feeling when someone waves back.
For the record, I wave or wave back, depending on how fast the other driver responds when they notice Tillie.

However... I can't help but wonder about some of you people that keep statistics on how many times people wave or don't wave back. Do you carve these statistics into your dash board? Maybe you should! Think of it as a mod! :impatient
