We have to keep waving alive!!
I have only been an owner for 2 weeks and my wife and I have only gotten one wave each.
I bought this car just because of the waving community...err.. ahh, ok so I really bought it for other reasons, but the waving is a nice byproduct.

KEEP IT UP!

Looks like they got a little to close to a sign while waving. Only 3 fingers left.

j/k, nice job on the badges.

A New Generation of Wavers:

I was at a wedding on Saturday, and the bride asked me to show her sisters two boys my MINI. The boy's where 5 & 4 years old. Thier mom said she has a surprize for them, and when they saw my car they went crazy. Jumping in the the car. One of them was trying really hard to get the door open so he could sit in him.

The mom said that everytime they drive past a MINI on the road or see one the two boys go crazy waving, and trying to get thier attention. So no waving is not dead, it will be saved by the next generation. =)

Another fun bit was the boy in the drivers seat going, 'How do I make it go? I want to go real fast!'

And I am that crazy guy who waves to the MINI driver on the other side of the highway, I KNOW he can't see me, but I have to try anyway.

C'mon....Don't Stop Waving!

I wave. So if you're out there, just humor me and wave back! If you own a MINI, then I have to believe you're a unique individual. Well, waving back at another (fanatical) MINI owner makes you that individual.

I've been waving now for over 3 years (even before I got my own MINI) and I'm proud to own a future piece of auto history by owning a MINI. There is no other car as individual as the MINI and let's not forget why we all got MINI's in the first place, to be different! Right? Yeah........right!

Insane....maybe. Fanatical.....definately! So, please continue to wave at us out there and make our day. After all, with all the constant BS in ALL of our lives, a quick wave is a small tid-bit of "happy". Wave on.

When my MCS arrives, I'll give other MINI owners the "nod" and even flash my lights, but I don't think I'll do the whole honking of the horn and waving thing...reminds of the Plymouth/Dodge Neon "Beep. Beep. Hi!" campaign from a few years ago.

And plus...I don't take rejection too well! I don't know what I'd do if someone didn't wave back. sniffle...sniffle.

Hey I have owned 3 1st gen neons, and currently have a 2nd gen. Neon owners don't wave, honk, or anything now (way too common). We do have online forums, and mod our cars, but mostly they are uninspired. Not like the mini owners I have found here on NAM.

NOBODY in South Bend or North West Indina area waves.
Down in Indy eveyone welcomes you into the family.
It ain't the same up here in the land of no dealers.

I vow to always wave. I was a waver as a kid in my dad's Vettes, then in my Jeep Wrangler in high school, and will be a waver in my MINI in about 3 more weeks!

I'm not afraid of rejection

I wave all the time. It's been MINIWonderland the past couple of days. I have seen so many MINI's between my home and work. On Monday I saw the same PW MINI from Maine 3 times in several different towns during my travels .

Got a wave!

Today was the first time I was close enough to another MINI going in the right direction so I had the opportunity to wave. I smiled, gave a huge wave, and got a huge wave and grin in return. Yay!

If the owner of a Dark Silver/Black Cabrio with Maine plates who was driving on Oak Street in Natick, MA this morning is reading, you made my day!

and the fashionista/cute car buyer who doesn't give a rat's a** about anything past the end of their nose.
Amen to that. Have owned my '06 LY for about five months now and the only waves I seem to get are from other LY drivers. Must be something about our sunny, slightly off kilter dispositions. Most of my driving is done on the highway and there are a few commuting mini's that I see regularly, I've tried waving and never had one returned. I give up.
I was encouraged when I was out in the "boondocks" of Southwestern Indiana" and I saw a LY Cooper about a mile and a half down the road from me that eventually caught up to me when we made it to the town's only traffic light - there was a family of three in the car and they waved and smiled at me like crazy. I felt great! Also had a yellow check-mate lady wave at me on Saturday - seems like the more somber coloured drivers (greens, browns and greys) don't wave at all.

I got more waves when I owned my 99 New Beetle than I've gotten in my Cooper thus far. It's not for trying though! I do love it when I see the smiles it brings to people just walking down the street - I've gotten lots of compliments on my LY with black racing stripes on it's bonnet, as it looks like a little bee - hence it's name BuzzBCooper! Always feel great when I, or my car can make someone smile.

just saw someone this morning wave at me after I waved. She was making a turn but I think she didn't shift into 3rd just to wave ... or she had an auto tranny. Haha haven't had a wave in awhile and it was quite refreshing.

I wave as well - just a habit I picked up riding motorcycles; but yeah, about half wave back.

two reasons

(and these are both derived from growing up on l.i.)

1) L.I. (especially the Hamptons) is chock full of miserable, miserable people. They don't care about you in your MINI. They're too busy on the phone or getting their nails done etc.

2) MINIs in the Hamptons are the equivalent of mopeds. They're the 3rd or 4th car - the one that gets parked outside because the other 3 bays in the garage are full.

If you're looking for enthusiasts, then you were looking in the wrong place.

I hope you stopped for a Dreesen's donut. Simply amazing.

I'm new to the Mini world, and there really aren't that many Minis around where I live. I saw one yesterday. I wanted to wave, but I was afraid of being the weird guy that waves at people he doesn't know. Anyway, she waved at me first. (...and gave me one of those "Tee Hee" smiles.) I waved back, and I have to say, it made my day.

I've noticed I got more waves before I got my tint - I'm thinking the other drivers can't see me - and they're probably thinking I'm not waving. I still wave every chance I get tho!

I have seen alot of drivers with tinted windows lately poking their figers out the windows and "waving them". Hey, I'll take what I can get.

Some people do. Some people don't. I'm kind of old school so I try to acknowledge every MINI I see.

I wave as often as I can. I just hope the sweet young things don't think the dirty old man is waving at them. Really...I'm just acknowledging the Mini Coopers.

Have seen a few MINI's no waves. I get the most attention from 18 wheelers when I have my roof down. Gee wonder why??
