I saw one of these yesterday @ a club BBQ but I am still waiting for mine. I am being patient as MINI ships out 150k+ of these.

 

my 'black box' did not contain the red glasses.......does anyone know if they are just a red film or if they are polarized too? Are the right and left side the same shade of red?

 

That guy is selling HEAPS of MINI stuff at the moment - I assume he's recently sold his MINI and just got lucky with receiving the package

I got mine, went out and bought a maxim, clicked around the website, watched the flash stuff, entered VIN, got the pdf.

ok, so MINI marketers have gone batty. Today in the mail I found a black box. On the back, were answers to people asking what's in the box...

1. Is this box black? I would have said navy.
2. Maybe if MINI wanted you to know they would have sent you one.
3. Whatever it is, it's probably not some secret MINI program for owners.
4. No hablo ingles
5. I'm in the MINI Cardboard-box-of-the-month club
6.Oh, it's just a box full of None-of-your-business.

So what's inside? A curious old book, with hardly any pages! More later when I get a chance to examine the book.

I got the book box on Saturday. Basically, MINI want you to purchase selected magazines on selected dates for a period of two to three months. Inside the magazine, they have left clues for you to decipher using the given gadgets. Basically it seems to be a marketing ploy. i think you win something after deciphering all the clues, and after spending a few dollars at the bookstore.

Got not one, but two black boxes in the mail today.

 

We've got two MINI's, but only received one box so far. . .

Okay maybe I'm dense or slow, but I have my black box, I have my Blender magazine with the ad on page 109, I put the decoder over the roof and......still can't tell what's there. Is my decoder goofed up or am I operating it incorrectly?

I had a very hard time making out the writing in the ad - it was very tough to get the viewer to lay flat over the roof.

 

Tore the ad out of my bosses' New Yorker today.

Mission Accomplished!

I'd say the new ad agency's pretty much picked up where the old one left off in the "clever dept."

Press the decoder flush against the magazine add and slide it around a bit.

It must be upright (long way up and down) to work.

 

Yeah I pulled the black center out of the decoder. Maybe my eyes are tired, I can tell there's something there, I just can't make it out. But I've received some assistance, and it's much appreciated (you know who you are)

Well, all help and suggestion was appreciated. But I mean, are you people seeing this CLEARLY? Cause I can just BARELY make out a couple of words. Maybe I got a bad copy of the magazine.

Well, you do have to hold the edges down and kind of move your head back and forth and up and down.

I've also had great luck by lifting one leg and rubbing my stomach, not with the ad mind you, but great luck still

 

Black box came today! funny thing though, it was mailed to the wife instead of me and she's not even listed on the paperwork of the vehicle!

Now on with the decoding!
