No fair! I'm in Seattle for the summer, 3,500 miles away from my home, where my black box will be shipped. Thus I have no hope of playing this super fun game.

 

awful lot of marketing dollars aimed at the existing customer base... it's a small token of the kind of culture-building that breeds the brand loyalty that keeps people within the family, even if the vehicle itself has problems. I know, I was a 3 generation VW owner...

 

Got the decoder kit in the mail today but don't have a copy of the ad. The "owners perks" website is still being updated and not sure how the decoder will work on a monitor anyway???

Sounds like this could be a very entertaining game but not sure if it will be as entertaining as CSAMF (or his Percocet.) You are hillarious . Can't believe your "friends" wouldn't reveal the secret. They probably wouldn't even help a little old lady cross the road.

I got the Blender mag free in my office last week...never heard of that magazine but saw the ad and couldn't figure out what to do with it. Tried polarized filters, no luck of course. Caution: I almost put the mag out in my office waiting room but checked and there are a bunch of sexual or sexually suggestive ads that should not be in a waiting room with lil kids....so I stupidly threw it out.

But,,,I received the Black Box today, so I wish I had kept the magazine....but someone mentioned that there were red 3-D glasses....in the interest in of being secrective, I won't say what was in the box except to say that in mine there were no 3-D glasses......was my Box incomplete? I feel like I am being left out of a club.....

 

So, they're making MINI owners trade percocet and purchase copies of a particular magazine in order to give back to the MINI community???

Does this ad group also manage advertisements for Blender?

Thanks so much for the pop-up blocker advise!! Nothing was working and then I remembered your post and had my Hubby turn off our blocker! Would have been lost without it!!

 

We finally found one of the magazines listed. Wow I didn't know it would be so hard to find a magazine! We found it in The New Yorker July 24, 2006! We saw another MCS motoring and thought he might be out looking for a magazine also!

This has been a lot of fun!! I really wanted to know yesterday, but glad that I waited and my Husband and I were able to find it for ourselves!! Thanks for not giving it away!!

All done. I wished I would have looked at this thread first about the popup blocker that took awhile to figure out.

 

Seems that MINI has finally updated the Owner's Lounge site... to update the list that snooter originally obtained from the marketing company in post #99 (thanks snooter - your list really came in handy last night!)...

Sports Illustrated - July 31st issue
Blender - August issue
Business 2.0 - August issue
Maxim - August issue
Swindle - August/September issue
MC2 - September/October issue

So basically only MC2 is added to snooter's list.

Decoder and glasses ads to come in the future...

 

I got a black box in the mail just today from MINI. In it is a fake book cleaverly titled "A dissying look at the awesomeness of small". There is a secret compartment in the book that contains a Magic Window encypter (looks like the piece to the right of the ad) a Super Secret Decoder (a piece of cardboard with cut outs the shape of a MINI and Red tinged paper glasses. You're directed to the Owners Perks section of the Owner's Lounge were you are directed to purchase a select group of magazines, look for the ad that you've found and figure out the clue. The promise is that goodies are the reward.

No word yet on what to do with the other pieces. Now, I have to go out and buy the magazines!!!

 

The magazines listed are all printing the exact same ad... so you only have to buy one of them.

 

Hmmmm....

Now are we all VERY sure that each of these magazines contains the SAME coded message????

Call me obsessive (because that's my middle name) but it would be interesting to check EACH of these mags to confirm that fact !!

Well, I based my info on what the marketing firm told snooter:Now, I suppose it might be worth someone taking the decoder into the store and checking each magazine personally, but I sure won't actually buy each of the magazines to find out!
