Flora - I love that you've totally customized your car! Did you plan it that way from the start or just do it on a whim??

If you don't mind.. can I ask how much it was to paint your roof? If you don't want to say, I'll understand MINI wouldnt allow me to build a PH/B MCS so I've thought about painting my roof...

Ms. Kitty, my 1st MINI was all PW and I wanted to have her painted something in the pink family (TFQON would have really appreciated that. I even bought a toy MINI and painted it in the pink theme with a Laurel Burch design on the roof.)...but the hurricane swamped everybody's car. No problem, my insurance was very generous and so I bought a PH/W roof MC and had the white painted red and added the checker boards...I found the design on another MINI related site. I didn't know about the "check mate" or that could be ordered....so I took it to the local paint shop and told them what I wanted. (I just do not have the imagination to come up with something really creative, and would really love a truly beautiful air brushed design.) They did a good job: no runs, no drips, no errors....

Why the red? It really was a whim...and because I am a member of The Red Hat Society...or, old broads off their rockers...or old broads behaving badly....you'd have to read the poem "Fair Warning" to understand. Red and Purple just seemed to be a natural combo.

Cost? $600. I think that is a fair price since the checkerboards probably gave the poor guy headaches trying to get them all right and evenly spaced.

I work at the Main jail in Key West and everytime the Sheriff sees Ducky, he says, "I REALLY do like your car!" I have the feeling that when he retires, which will be within the next year or two, he is going to get a MINI.

More pictures... Geez, I got my butt kicked by the machine just trying to get it off the disc, into the computer and onto the website...Alas, I am a computer dummy. As you can tell, TheWrks/Scott, was kind enough to enlarge it for me because I was just brain dead from getting on the site. But in my gallery, I have a picture of Ducky before with the white roof. My neighbors where all in and around the car. It made quite a hit on the block.

After I got it painted, it killed me not to wash the car for thirty days to allow it to cure...Ducky gets a bath 2-3 times a week and when I need a little bit of "me" time...The guy across the street watches and has told me that I am about ready to get the car repainted cause I rubbed it all off. Heck, it's cheaper than therapy! :impatient But I will work at getting more pics...promise. Mick

Once I get off the painkillers, with Wino being an automatic, I should be able to drive. Soon I hope!

Even though I'm secure in my masculinity... No one gets near my toenails with polish.

Observations of the Colour Purple

Has it ever crossed your mind that all purple liquids are really tasty, yet all solid purple food tastes like something only your Mother could persuade you to eat? I'd prefer to eat Chewbacca's Grandad's toenail clippings than Beetroot, purple cabbage or purple lettuce.
This is futher proven by the fact that blackberries are really nice 'cos they're black, not purple, but when they're changed into a liquid they're purple. This may have a tie in with gases too. Have you ever seen a purple gas? It seems that purple things like to be in liquid form, refuse to be in gaseous form, and will taste really bad if forced to be in solid form

I hate purple flavored things. Purple Jolly Ranchers are the worst!!

Hello Hong! Congrats on the new MINI! I agree with you, the purple haze is quite blue.

Installation has officially begun of the aero kit on Grimace. The bumper is in my living room as we speak

I just order my MCS in Purple this past weekend,,, set for build Week 17 and arrival in mid-to-late May. Will be based in Houston

The dealer told me that April 2006 production will be the last Purple's made.

Now I have to decide what color wheels would look good with purple.

Spike's New Clothes (Aesthetic Creations)

Spike got new clothes (Tribal Flames) at AMVIV3 from Mike @ Aesthetic Creations. Mike did a great job and I love the new look!!

I still haven't mastered attaching a photo (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!)

MiniTX,

What color roof and mirrors are you getting? I got white roof, mirrors & rims. When the rims are clean they are beautiful...but after driving for even a short period of time...they are dirty. I sometimes with I hadn't gone with white rims...other times I'm glad....

Just my 2 cents!

lurks into purple thread

I've got an IB with white S-lites - they look great. I've also got a set of silver X-lites, and a set of silver S-lites The white are a pain to keep clean, but they look SO good in the color combo. The others look ok, but the white is just more stunning. The brake dust issue can be addressed with a set of aftermarket pads. Oh, and don't forget to wax them first, inside and out!

PF60 - saw you at AMVIV - If I didn't have my IB, I'd take your PHBEP!

Where did you order your MSC? My local dealer told me MINI stopped taking purple orders in March?

Hey Eric,

Ok...I'm still a newbie...what's PHBEP??? Of course I got the easy part "PurpleHaze" but clueless on the rest. Also, noticed you are from Santa Cruz...I have a SC Skateboards sticker on my back window....not for the skateboard part, but for the SC part. The funny thing is I bought the sticker YEARS ago and it was in my "junk"drawer this whole time. I grew up in Santa Clara and always loved the Santa Cruz area...favorite movie is Lost Boys...

Did you see my car after the Tribal Flames were added?

Lynn
