Any Suggestions/Recommendations

AB Owners, help me out here. I will soon order my second MINI. This time I'm stongly leaning towards Midnight Black. I know the dirt and dust will show up much faster than on a lighter color cars. So more frequent washings will be required. I'm getting to accept this fact.

Here's my choices so far:

Midnight Black body, roof and mirrors
White sport stripes
White turn signals
Rear fogs
Xenons

Premium Package
16" Bridge Spoke

Hi-Fi
Bluetooth and USB
black/gray leatherette

I'm on the fence with anthracite headliner. It looks great on my SS MINI, but that has the wood dash and a dark color line. I'm thinking the standard dash with checkers doesn't need the dark headliner.

Any thoughts, suggestions, warnings, encouragement, discouragement before I pull the trigger on this one?

Look for pics of the Midnight black in my gallery. I believe I'm the first to take delivery of one.

What sort of plasti-dip did you use? I am interested in doing something similar to mine

Wow Lilliux, that Midnight Black looks awesome! How does it look in person? Is the metallic completely black, or are there hints of other colors?

use the Plasti-Dip spray. You can get it at Lowes.

Its pretty black; the only time you can really appear to see the metallic is when you get really close or its under florescent lights. It seams to have some black and silver flakes in it, but it is hard to tell.

kewlby,

I'm no expert, but I got the Astro Black just because I liked the color/trim scheme I chose in the MINI Configurator. If I understand you correctly: your other MINI is Sparkling Silver? Yes...that doesn't show dirt much at all. I've had my Astro Black MINI about 3 weeks or so now. I suppose it does show the dirt, but that's okay with me. I chose the color because I liked it. If I may offer my two cents: choose a color you like. If you feel like going in a different direction with black versus your former color, then do it. I have another car, a 21 year old Nissan to which I'm abnormally attached. *laughs* She's Silver Frost Metallic with black trim. I never considered ordering a MINI in silver, although I like the Pure Silver with black trim. I didn't want a competition or comparison between the two. I wanted them to look totally different.

I also have the 16" Bridge Spokes, although I've got Double Spokes on now with my run flat snow tires. The Bridge Spokes will go on in spring. I like 'em a lot.

I'm unfamiliar with the look of the anthracite head liner, so I'm no help there. I do like the lighter color of the "upper half" of the MINI interior, though. It helps it to feel quite spacious. I suppose that's an individual preference though.

Let us know what you finally decide! Good luck!

I love this color, but i saw a new thread for midnight black. Someone had up a pic of a 09 clubman in MB. But here i see people picking up 09 hardtops in AB. Are each car getting a different black?

Officially AB stops production Dec 08 and MB started Dec 08 so there was a slight overlap. I think if you went to order one now you wouldn't be able to

^ Yeah...I've got an '09 MCS that I ordered in Sept 08 and I got Astro Black. *shrug* I do like it a lot, though!

Everytime,

How'd you get the front of the car black and the back charcoal? Custom paint or component/panel replacement? Very cool!

Got MINI Cooper S at the end of January, my last car (VW Golf) was black so I was thinking of getting pepper white or Dark Silver. Once I saw the astro black I had to get it. It reminds me of gunmetal blue. From a distance it looks black but as you get close it has a blue tinge where the light hits it. It looks awesome, and pictures just can't do it justice. Here's one of a few pics from my gallery:

new toys

Ok I finally added a few things to my car so here are a few pictures of what I've done. I installed the Blackjack side mirror covers, rear view mirror cover, and side scuttles. I installed the 2 inch Alta antenna, and the Mini Grille Badge holder. I also just got done installing the JCW Carbon Fiber shift lever and brake lever as well as the alcantara boots to match.
Now I just need to save up for the wheels, suspension, and JCW tune.

You can't get a JCW tune without getting the whole JCW tuning kit. The tune is tied to your VIN number now.
