Hey everybody

I too fell in love with an Astro Black Mini. When I first saw it, I sold my blue one and made the deal happen. I flew to NY and drove home in this 2006 MCS JCW R52. She was a little rough and needed some TLC which I have been providing in healthy weekend doses. I have named him Baxter and he now has 31k on the clock. Here are some pics!

I can't find a web link to exterior photos so please check out my Garage in my profile until I can figure out how to post others.

Miichaelsmith,
You may want to look at Plastidip, I haven't tried it yet but many others have. I saw they had an option for a smoke color which might look really good on the Astro Black cars.
Good luck. Post pics.

+1 on plastidip! Just the regular black. Matches the wheel wells perfectly and I like it. Started to do it myself. Also did the wheel caps. Looks good with the rest of the wheel silver. Try it. $7 per can. If you don't like it, peel it right off. Good luck!

You should browse through the AB registry; a few owners have posted pics of their cars completely blacked-out, IIRC. That way, you will have an idea of what it would look like before putting the time into it.

On the first day of 2013 we (my wife and I) bought a nice Astro Black '06 Cooper ...... for her ......

Only concern is a few stone chips on the edge of the hood, any tips on touching up this paint ?

Dr. Colorchip and clear spray acrylic. Dr. Colorchip is kinda time consuming to apply, but it's seamless when done correctly. The clear acrylic helps protect the paint from future chips. I would get the second tip after getting new chips on my freshly touched-up bonnet...

I bought Turkish used so I didn't have much choice in color, but I love the depth of Astro Black. Here's the most current pic, but it's about a year and a half old. I plan on adding some rally lights later this month.

Nah, I think there's just not that many of us. In all of the local Mini events I've been to in the past year, I've only met 4 other AB owners. I can't even count all the BRG or PW owners I've met since then.

First year Clubman - A/B. Somewhat rare color combo (A/B - silver quarters) from what I understand.

Too funny, yes it has been quiet. Well mines been sitting in a barn since October it's been a long winter. And we still have at least another month and a bit. Then it's going to take a long time to fix the massive potholes we developed over the winter, may be a short summer

Thinking about painting the wheels and the roof a gunmetal grey color to offset the Astro black. Havent decided.

Also have a set of ARA AR1's... cant decide which looks better on there.

Don't paint the wheels, I know where you can get a great set of BBS R90 17" wheels that would look sweet on that ride
