BTW, any Astro Blackers want to trade a set of AB mirror caps with my white ones? Maybe add a splash of color to your ride? I went with dark wheels and now my mirrors look funny.

Well, not quite yet...I pick up my mini on labor day. It's being delivered on saturday but I'm away on vacation. I can't wait to get this car :impatient . Thanks everyone for posting and giving me something to do over the last 8 weeks waiting for my car I'll post picks when I get them. BTW, where can I get the Astro Black Owners Club badge? That is so cool!

Hi! I've had my AB/B MCSC for two months now! LOVE it!! I too, would like to know how I get the AB owner's club badge. I only have one decent pic of "Hammy" but I'll take more later.

 

Thinking about joining the club if I order a new sidewalk cabrio. Only concern is keeping it clean and swirl-free. You guys have much problem with that?

 

Not really, the AB (really MOONLIGHT BLACK METALLIC, "Astro" makes me think of the Jetsons. . . ) is metallic, unlike the old Jet Blacks that showed EVERYTHING. It is a very versatile color and, like any paint, will look great if you treat it right.

 

Just don't put it through any automatic car washes. Even if it says "soft-touch" it can still leave marks. Hand washing is the best, and fortunately, it doesn't take very long to wash! Especially the cabrio!

 

Only two bucket washes for me. Getting closer to joining the club. :smile:

 

No, but you have to wash her every 2 days. This car is the dirtiest little thing I have ever owned. She gets her butt dirty literally 3 blocks after a car wash.

As for swirl marks... Hand wash with the proper techniques, and most importantly, DRY CORRECTLY. Soft microfiber or chamois only.

 

That is true! How 'bout those drips that always show up on the boot after you drive away!?! I've opened the boot and tried to wipe every drop, but they still come from somewhere! It's okay though, it's worth all the work after it's done.

 

I wondered if there was an AB Owners group. I got mine last December. I'm going to detail it up real nice shortly and then I'll have some flashy pictures.

I thought I was gonna go BRG for my upcoming Mini order, but after seeing Gabe's car and Konky's I think I'm sold on the AB+JCW Aero look...

I think the reason pictures don't do it justice is a picture is static while people are always moving.

You have to be walking, turning your head, tilting your head, to notice the constantly shifting colors of AB. Otherwise, the depth and shifting nature of the color is not evident.

 

True comment about having to see AB in person.
