Looks like the MINI will soon be discontinued by BMW

Looks like the MINI will soon be discontinued by BMW
I read the other day, that Mini is currently facing a crisis with sales dropping yearly and a total loss of 60% sales in the last decade.
BMW is viewing it as an "overpriced novelty" that has struggled with sales, leading to speculation that BMW will eventually dissolve the MINI brand.
Is this possible?
No doubt, they turned it in to an everyday grocery getter. Dumped the manual gear box and added all kinds of computer crap that detracts from the motoring experience that made them unique. Sir Alec and Paddy are spinning in their graves
Bring back the smaller 1st Gen supercharged models and I bet they'd think twice. The later model "MINI" are no longer Mini. Certainly not in spirit. They've become nothing more than generic. It's time to bring back the fun in driving small unique cars again.

+1 Re-open the Oxford plant and put real MINIs back on the road.
as someone who owns a '24 MCS (manual), and is shopping for an R53 to go with it, the new ones suck. I did the BMW ultimate driving event this past year and drove the new MCS/JCW/Countryman S... jeez.
Even though 1 model year up from my daily, and it's SIGNIFICANTLY worse. the F5x generation was never known to be "the fun one", but the new F6X generation is barely better than my wife's 2022 Civic EX-L from a driving fun standpoint. Kind of a shame, but that's what happens when its a design-by-shareholder scenario
Fake news folks. BMW has no plans on dropping the Mini.

i think njaremka was referencing the original post which was seemingly conjured from thin air
& utilizing a convoluted phraseology that i would guess to be generated by a.i.

the neatest piece of IN THE NEWS that i've seen fairly recently is that now on RealOEM you must click on classic to get to the R53 catalog

Yep an R53 is a classic now and the even have a MINI Classic FB/IG page and post up R50-R53s. I think its the same people that run the BMW classic page and across from the Welt. I will have to dig and find it, saw it once.
I am biased but the R50, R52, R53 model is a blend of modern/classic design. They got it right. IMHO, it's well proportioned and true to Mini heritage good looking timeless design. The Tritec SC & Getrag are robust and have stood the test of time.
The newer models are more powerful but more problematic(?) & bigger that some call it MIDI.
I hope they will not discontinue Mini...
