N12 aluminum rocker cover?

As in the title, anyone tried one yet?

I'll be tearing the wife's N12 apart this winter to do timing chain and valve seals.

While the valve cover doesn't seem to have any problems, who knows whats going to happen when that 13 year old, heat soaked plastic cover will do when I remove it.

I'm all for "upgrading" to something that might be a little more durable in order to make the wife's car as reliable as possible.

This isn't about "bling", it's about replacing with a better/more durable part.

Another nice feature is the PCV cover is removable instead of the one way "clips" on the OEM valve cover.

Well, since no one seems to know anything about this rocker cover, I ordered one up.

I'll see if it's worth the price or not in a couple weeks.....

Hello, we have ones similar and they will be here but it will take some time to get in. plastic we have N14, N12, N16, N18. N14 we have in metal. I had the N14 version on my car from the same casting factory and it worked great in the orange painted version for the N14 engine.

They also are the same place that makes the plastic ones we have some for some time and proven valve cover. Some of the other ebay/amazon brands (non tested by MINI owners) you have to watch as the casting and the plastic is not the best and they don't line up or they have molding issues and extra plastic in places. Ours looks like Genuine in finish.

What is the difference between the Orange and the Red versions on your website other than the price? The Red is significantly more expensive.

They are the same part, the orange my guess was painted in a larger run (shared with Peugeot cars that like Orange) vs the red which is more of a MINI color. So the cost (ours) is different as this time.

We had some of the HSP sourced brand a first and we have now gone direct with a supplier who is painting them better, and a little better mold. Their might be some mixed stock depending on what's left.

We don't have any left under that for the orange for that early brand source.

Any idea what the small metal clips are for?

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-bremmen-...27646554s~brp/

I think they are meant to be inserted into the slot next to the intake tubing attachment point......part of the pcv system?

I know my stock one looks to have a clip inserted in that spot. If you look up to the "mitzone" picture I posted above, it's where the red clip is.

The red clip is not pictured, our camera guy removed it when pictured. Its just a dust cover anyway, gets removed on install.

*Then the one metal clip is installed.

are you sure it's not this:

Picture isn't that good, but it sure looks like it might be termed "excess pressure valve"....I wish I could find a higher res picture.

I think I might pull the under cover shield and see if I can see where that "port" goes to.....

Yep its the metal clip that goes in place when you pull the dust tab on the N12/N16. Just pulled the oem one and saw it, sorry about that. Updated above.

Some covers already have it in place and some covers they ship it with the red tab and then you pull it out and insert the metal one like the diagram.
