Valve Cover

I have seen lots of write ups for valve cover replacement on r56 (mine is 08 S) and the job looks pretty straight forward.
Is there anything to look out for in particular that will trip me up?

I'm pretty well mechanically inclined (ex-aircraft frame fabricator / installer), and my buddy is a SAE mechanic.

I told him I was going to let my mini mechanic replace my valve cover for $600 and he chuckled at me.

I told him the cheapest I could find the valve cover was about $290 on ebay. (including shipping)

I didnt bat an eye about any of it until he was giving me a hard time saying it would be a simple job.

so, my question (besides the tripping up part), is that a good price for the valve cover? realoem, bavauto, amazon, rockauto, none of them can beat that price.

Thanks in advance for any help, this site is the best 8)

It's super simple. 15 mins max, just make sure you replace the rusted bolts

Thanks!

After talking to the mechanic shop and getting ready to pay $600 for them to do it, I'm very excited to do it myself and save money at the same time!

Thanks so much 8)

Now to see if I want to replace the timing chain assembly at the same time heh~

If you haven't purchased your valve cover yet…. check out Ferman BMW! I found them on EBAY. Their prices and service is second to none!
