what would you do

This is a question for all the people that have has a supercharged mini and a turbo mini. I'm looking to get into another mcS and I can't leave any of my vehicles stock. i will definitely heavily mod it!!! So as far as fun to drive, reliability and mod ability , if your current mini was totaled or stolen and you had to find another mini and start over with a used mini which one would you choose? supercharged or turbo and why and what year would you stay away from. thanks to all that repond in advance

I'd stick R53 as it's issues are well documented and not as bad as the R56 - compared to N14. Newer stuff may be better though

The N 14 is from 2007 through 2013, is that correct?

I just bought an 06 R53 a few months ago. It's our second 1st gen. I bought it instead of going back to Porches and haven't regretted it. That being said, I'd be curious about your motivations. I think the n14 issues can be overcome which then leaves you with a turbo platform and a lot more potential vs building a w11. I would imagine which platform you choose depends on if you want increased potential or just plain awesome out of the box. For me it was the r53. Just my.02. someone that knows a lot more may refute everything I've just stated.

I sold my old r53 and bout an STI. After some light mods I was putting down 330whp and 332tq. The mini was putting down 223whp and 202tq and was 10 times more fun to drive. The instant tq from the sc was was bettering then the lag from the turbo so my heart is with the sc. I’ve heard that turbos have come a long was since 08.

I will definitely mod either to at least the level of my old r53(see mods in signature) and I will be doing a few track days a year.

that’s why I wanted to hear from people that have had both and modded both on their opinion on fun to drive and reliability after modding
