Mini s w/ Turbo

I am in the process of purchacing a mini s with a turbo charger in addition to the stock supercharger. The reported gains from the dealer im buying it from are ~250 hp, and a 0-60 time of ~4 seconds... I was just wondering if anybody here has used a turbo on their mini. If you have, were you satisfied with the gains?

If you search this forum for the term "twincharged" you will find a near infinite number of posts on this topic. You can see one such system on the Detroit Tuned web site.

Satisfied? Yes. Well sorta. Some are always looking for more power. Way over 250 HP.
Maybe until something blows up (the engine or the wallet or both)

Try contacting Tuls and ask him how he likes his MCS turbo. Also contact Eric Savage at HELIX13.com, they are doing turbo kits as well.

How much can you get the turbo MCS for? How many miles on it already?

just wondering....do any of these kits make any modifications/upgrades to the SC itself...or is it just the stock sc on stock boost + a turbo.

For the turbo kit on an MCS you would want the supercharger to have a stock pulley not an upgraded reduction pulley.

I am getting the modification done by the dealer. It will be under wranty, and the car will be completley retrofitted w/ brebo brakes, lower suspension, roll bars, anti-sway bars, aero kit, lsd, etc... for ~35k

The guy at the dealer reassured me that the extra psi produced by the turbo will be insufficient to blow the engine.

I would never know a dealer to do this type of install and warranty it......sounds strange If you do get the car some pix would and a write up would be interesting.

Not many people have done this mod as far as I know...and to have a dealer do that under warranty is suprising to say the least. Whats the name of the dealership?

Rossii, If a dealer is selling it and installing it, then it sounds like the SPI Twin Charge kit to me. I know Hubie has gone around to different dealerships and have some of them on-board in distributing his kit. Not sure about the warranty...I wonder if they are still warrantying the engine the twincharge is connected to, or just their work and twincharge system, or just their work.

1nf3rn0, I've driven Hubie's car and it is awesome. I'd definately will be getting this kit as soon as I can save up my pennies to get it.

Is ~4 seconds even realistic? That cant be right. I'm thinking more like 5+.

Everyone always wants something different.

Dyno readings are fact. Timed runs depend on driver skill and many other variables - making them quite imprecise.

Not much to see AC. The guy filming basically just keeps zooming in and out of the engine bay. They don't even pump up the revs too hard, it goes for a few minutes and all he does is dab the acc. pedal evry now & then.

Check out the SPI video here, it's LOUD - gives you a much better idea of the twincharge kits awesome power!!

lol... Dyno no's compared to what?
What's the difference in acceleration? This might need you to have a tyre change.. sorry its a fact that you need to drive the car on the road.

The Japs rule when it comes to testing, they check everything out.. like top speed and 0-whatever speed... I mean you need to know a few things to make an assumption about how good a kit is.

Yes, when buying a new car I look for HP and 0-62 times for a good conparison... since hp on its own means nothing without the weight of the car + driver, but when checking out an aftermarket kit I look for 0-200 or quarter mile runs.

There is nothing wrong with wanting something different.. thats why we got the SPI kit.
