How can I make Harmon sound like an Aston Martin or Infiniti FX45?

you mean like

those three Minis sounded in the "Italian Job"?
great sound effects, wondered if it was real or not..
I read an article about how in the underground tunnel sceans the Minis where electric due to the fact they would not let a gas powered vehicle in the subway system.
So obviously there was some modifications to the audio tracks, still it sounded good!

Are you interested in the deep deep deep exhaust note with a great rumble that deafens you? (I've never heard an FX45 but I did hear a Corvette with a ton of mods worth $30K that hurt me ears alot when the owner reved it)

Note that exhaust note doesn't have anything to do with HP for the MINI.
By "improving" the sound you might loose power. A good exhaust shop can custom design you something to deepen the tone but it might cost alot and be loud enough to make your neighbors stick pins in a voodoo doll of your likeness both night and day.

Adding more cylinders to your MINI would be an option. 6 or 8 cylinders would be the limit. I have heard somewhere that a 6 was put in a MINI. Again the cost is prohibitive and it doesn't do much for the front end weight.

Try finding some MINI with magnaflow AND a header with no cat. That combination wasn't too deep but it was VERY loud the last time a MINI owner in my area did it. Within a few days the header was removed and put into the closet for safe keeping (forever).
The rest of us and the city are now happy.

option 1 buy a V8... I think this is kinda a silly question however I am always willing to help seeing as I love exhaust growl too... here in is the problem with the little motor... kinda hard to get a loooowwww deep growl without being really loud. I'm assuming what you want is a bubble not a chug? without a custom job I don't see it happening... also to get that bubble will be very hard... custom header that dosn't come together as one, intead 2 ports for the two that fire together and two ports for the other... then 2 pipes down the centerthat might do it, I know the impreza boxter or whatever they call it motor can do it.... OR my favorite, bore the hell outta the motor, rework the head and get a nice big bore header that'll do it for sure

There is a sticky thread that allows you to hear most exhausts in this forum area as I recall. I have the Magnaflow and really like the sound of it and get many compliments on it. The BAD side is that with the two childrens rooms (2yr and 2wk old) over the garage I sometimes push the Mini out in the mornings rather than start it and wake them! I hate do do it, but I'm going to yank it in favor of something quieter.

Anyone have a Borla Street they want to swap for the Magnaflow?

Heres a great idea. Since we all know that the stock exhaust on a MINI isn't THAT loud (besides that low frequency boom at 1-1.2k rpm)...what you can do is buy a HUGE amp and some strong speakers. Alright, step 2. Get a recording of a FX45 and Aston Martin. 3. Pop in the CD and crank it up ! You can interchange sounds if you want, maybe even add some BMW M3 twang (metallic sound) too!
