Umm, aren't MINI doors the same as Aston Martin's "swan wing doors"?

Umm, aren't MINI doors the same as Aston Martin's "swan wing doors"?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question...It's to my understanding that Aston Martin has their special swan wing doors that they advertise as their own exclusive and unique feature, but doesn't every MINI (excluding Countryman/Paceman) have the same style doors? I noticed this while walking back to my MINI as the doors do angle upwards quite a bit when you have them fully opened to the 90 degree position.

See what I mean?

They do go up a bit, seems more on my R58 but it might be just the angle. But not as high as the Aston Martin. There go up a bit more. If you go to Cars and Coffee in your area , you can pull up by one and compare.

Yeah I've been wondering the same thing!

I swear they do open up at an angle like swan doors, so I consider them to be swan doors, as it's a visible enough angle as compared to a standard door.

Mini did a good job on the door design. Even the satisfying thunk sound when you close them.

I reckon Mini designed them to open upwards a bit to give a better curb clearance.

I wish we got a door option for Minis to have the Rocketman Concept Car's doors. I think those are smart in a parking lot or tight space. Plus the 2 tone color you could possibly do with them would look cool!

Better curb clearance, and easier to close from inside, due to the angle drop.

I don’t think the Mini doors swing upwards enough to be considered “Swan” style. Those AM door rise quite a bit more than the Mini doors.

Yea they do swing up a bit but not like other cars.

FYI we have the last sets of the LSD doors from MINIs coming in, then they will be NLA. Which are the lambo style. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-lsd-doors-parts/
