General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
window deflectors are great but usually look a little funny on r53. they always look best when there’s a window frame to attach to.
agreed
one funny thing is that I never liked them at all back when I was a Saabguy even tho very nice factory versions were available...
...thought that they looked a bit goofy,
and anyway with that particular car you didn't even really need them anyway, could have windows fully down in medium-heavy rain and only minor stray droplets would find their way in, guess it was just the design, perhaps the curvature of the windscreen, dunno why really
Wasn't sure where to post this but decided this subforum, which gets a lot of "not-MINIs for sale on the Internet" action. For those whom watch B-J, Mecum and yes BaT auction action too, check out this 36 min video published on Harry's Garage 5 days ago by Harry Metcalfe a few days in advance of Silverstone auctions held last weekend. By now, final hammer prices are likely available online but it's Harry's fascinating color commentary that compels watching. Yes, Mr Metcalfe is clearly a man of considerable means but even more than that (IMO), a very knowledgeable gearhead enthusiast with a varied collection of his own to match.

must admit though that sometimes I get highly irritated by British car journalists because they always rate the French hot hatches as some of the best and of course sadly we in the USA are deprived of such le fruit défendu...
2004 Mini S Supercharged. 6-speed manual 79k original miles. Power windows, locks, mirrors. Alloy wheels, tires in great shape. No malfunction lights. Leather in great shape. Cold air, CD, tilt, cruise. Engine & transmission are solid. Clutch shifts smooth. Only issue is that the throwout bearing is noisy and randomly makes a noise. FIRM $4500. I can replace the bearing and clutch but price jumps to $6500. If you are handy this is the car for you. Drives excellent, no slipping, very strong.Couple of dings/cuts.See pictures. Must meet in Calera 35040.
Wow, that MC40 interior is in great condition. Not sure if its because of the color, but the leather on most of them looks like they're just sitting on top of the foam!
Also, what's up with all the carbon fiber dashes looking so faded? Did they lack the UV protection? Or were they always this color?
This one listed yesterday in the Phx AZ area looks interesting with combo of single family ownership since new plus desirable factory options and notable quality modifications. Not shown in ad description but included using VIN decoder is factory LSD option. Nice to see one pop up again relatively locally after quite the dry spell. Overall, worth "having a look" IMO...

Presume it's manual when they say clutch
At 111,000 miles for a 2007, its on the low side for mileage. Agree on the "too bad" for it being an automatic. Priced at $3500 so maybe its worth saving for someone. What would a manual conversion cost?
2008 competition edition (#17/37) R52 in Astro black located just outside Montreal. 92k km, second owner. Rust to the back lights but otherwise very pretty,

I've seen a W11 engine going for ~$1200 so if you got the car for say $2.5k and your time was free, this could be a deal. I'm chasing R52s in S form and my reading on the forum is that a MT swap is doable but not economically practical.
If I was a) retired, b) in a better financial position and c) had space, this sort of thing could become a fun hobby. There's a lot of satisfaction when you get the wrenching right. But bodywork scares me.
Fitted with rarely seen Gintani chargecooler amongst other things, like those side skirts are they Gintani too?
StopTech calipers, aftermarket exhaust, JCW shift-***, euro parcel shelf, R56 seats, and probably some other stuff to find upon inspection, looks somewhat rough but neat to see nonetheless and would be a good candidate to give some big love. Very fair asking price.
EDIT:
adding Gintani info --- it was a great design!
also: big bucks $$$
Think I found the same car here on NAM from a 2014 classified:
