Wow, very late production 2006 R53 (2006-11-27) with 49k miles! Slicktop too!
Could be a winner for someone here if has been local to SW region since new...

I emailed that guy when it first came on CL 3 or 4 months ago... told him it was built in the last 24 hours of MINI production. I also made some simple suggestions on how to improve his car for the ad (in a friendly manner), but he never responded.

Hagerty Marketplace is currently selling the George Foreman Collection consisting of (by my count) 49 vehicles. It's a diverse group that includes a 2003 JCW Mini Cooper S in Indi Blue. The odometer shows 835 miles, according to the listing. For those with larger bank accounts, there are also several vintage Corvettes, a BMW Z8, a Ford GT, multiple Bentleys, etc. Worth a look. Here's the listing for the Mini: https://www.hagerty.com/marketplace/...Gv1PmJbdANgFxC
Forgot to check final auction result on that 2003 R53 until this morning, which indicates it sold for $15,301 (plus fees) on 15Dec2023. Other than the need for fresh tires plus remediation resulting from climate and smoke related damage during extended storage, seems another indication of softer market conditions as currently seen on BaT. OTOH, cumulative costs for parts & labor to achieve all that do quickly add up!
That Challenge-spec R56 goes on the block this Friday 25Jan, so it'll be interesting to see if the "right" bidders are present and if so, what'll it might bring being non street legal (only). The selling owner indicated he balked at the BaT valuation limit despite rarity and uniqueness and decided on this venue instead. In any case, seems would make a great track day vehicle...
^^^ . I haven't bid on or listed anything, so not certain but believe that pertains to listings with a reserve set by the seller, which BaT must agree on in advance of going live.
That makes sense. A little strange though, since buyers have no idea what the reserve is, and plenty of auctions end with the classic 'RNM'. So if this particular seller thinks his car is worth something well north of the usual MCS, and it doesn't meet reserve, BAT hasn't lost anything other than some bandwidth. Maybe I'm missing something...
If the reserve is set "artificially" high (subjectively) relative to current market trends and bids don't meet reserve, BaT loses their 5% buyer's fee with the seller then free to cut a deal offline with the high bidder. With that factored, BaT has a vested interest in agreeing to reserve levels.

Reason: typo
I think Bat strives for completed auctions. If everyone were allowed a reserve, and set it to their own interpretation of value, there would be many more RNM listings. It’s a double edge sword.
^^^ Agreed, I'm logged on now watching several of interest. Unsure of BaT's current listing queue but think it was up to 2 months backlog at one point. With that factored, the economy and related softening market conditions might not be keeping up with seller expectations as well as their set reserves.

Breaking news: Seller's reserve lifted and sold for $26,500 As figured, not the right bidders at this venue for such a vehicle.
What do y'a'll think? I want some input before I make an offer.

Sorry for all the replies, every time I attach a link it says post not available. Anyways: "https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/784271943320315/"
Price is fairly reasonable for a factory JCW, but a lower offer would be better. I paid the same price for the exact same JCW but it was a one owner 64k miler, with Chrono, and 100% stock.Make sure all the usual suspects have been addressed (oil, fluid leaks). SC service would be vital at that mileage. Verify clutch performance, Verify condition of seats (no pics). Run the Carfax. Needs either matching aero grille for bumper, or revert back to stock grill. Not sure why he wouldn’t have engine bay pics.
RPF1's often hint at track time... Are the original wheels included? Yea totally weird to have the chrome bumper piece but not the Aero insert.... The ad details themselves are totally useless. And save the artsy fartsy bokeh pictures for your Flickr account...Sorry, I'm a hater LOL.
Here's my take on the usefulness of the description (pretty typical for FB from what I've seen):
Seller's description
If you’ve watched The Italian Job, you’ve seen this beautiful Mini Cooper in Chili Red with White Stripes. This isn’t the exact one but it looks just like it! Make sure to listen to the sound clip! This is a 2006 Mini Cooper S JCW (John Cooper Works) which is the highest configuration available. The transmission is a six-speed manual. This car boasts over 75 receipts from maintenance to performance modifications. It also does come with a clean title and did pass smog. The wheels and tires are custom and were a $2000 combination from Enkei and Firestone. It’s also lowered on KW Coilovers and handles perfectly! This is the last year of the supercharged Mini Coopers and the most reliable one. This Mini has only been filled with 91 Top Tier Fuel like Chevron and Shell. The car is quite literally perfect and has PPF (paint protection film) on the front and in small spots elsewhere to protect the gorgeous paint.
Original wheels are not included. Don't know much about the bumper to be honest. Owner sent me a huge tub of receipts. Passenger seat is tear free, driver's is slightly torn against the bolster. He mentioned a RMW camshaft and tune and two pulley reductions included but not installed. Coolant expansion tank was also just replaced and R56 Calipers were painted and installed.
Seats are leatherette. Certificate of Authenticity would be nice, but it would show on the VIN (Mdecoder.com) too. if he did R56 rear calipers, he may have also done the trailing arm swap, it’s lighter and usually done with the brake conversion. Upper bumper grill isn’t a big deal (but they are hard to find) just looks funny. I bought mine the same way and had to swap it out because OCD 😂
