sketchy member beware.

So the other day a member on here listed a m7 strut brace. I contacted him and he agreed on a price including shipping. Sent me his paypal address and I sent him the funds. Sent him a pm asking for him to send me the tracking number when shipped and he said no problem. A couple days later i get a notification that my paypal has been refunded. I send him a pm and he replies “sold it locally”. What’s everyone’s opinion? I find it wrong that he sold this item twice. Sorry about the rant but i personally think this is wrong. looking for opinions and letting people know not to buy from him.

It isn't nice, but he gave you the money back so I consider it a minor infraction. Happened to me recently although we never got to me sending any money. Obviously local sale is easier and safer for seller.

I was brought up with a pattern of ethics one stating loosely: "if you tell a man you're going to do something, you damn well sure do it even if it peels a scab off your nose. Those that can't rise to that ethic are not worthy of trust." The interweb makes it very difficult to hew within those lines so it all comes down to caveat emptor. This doesn't relieve your misgivings but it could add wrench to your tool belt.

He never contacted me though until I asked him why the paypal was refunded and it was a couple days after the sale.

Well that puts a different light on the subject.

I was brought up the same way which is why this upsets me. I feel it is a lack of morals.

I would just chalk it up to experience. Even with the seller's lack of integrity, at least you got your money back. Integrity is a wonderful virtue, but some lack it. And just stay away from the individual.

I dont see anything malicious by what he did. Kind of a jerk move but its happened to a lot of us.

At least you got your money back

It would bother me, too. Especially the lack of contact about why your money was refunded. Whether it's easier to sell it locally, or not, the individual agreed to a sale, accepted payment, and then backed out. Thanks for posting this so that the rest of know to stay away from dealings with this individual.
