Out of warranty repairs

My 2009 Clubman is now out of its factory warranty. I just took it in to the dealer to fix an airbag sensor fault. They worked on the car for a little over an hour and charged $400.00 in labor. Obviously time to find other repair shops. I'm concerned about the computer that monitors the car-do I need a shop that can read and reset it? I live in Honolulu and have few choices for repairs other than the dealer. Any suggestions are appreciated.

You're living in Hono ... I'd be very reluctant to make any suggestion .... I suspect your options are limited . . . .

I know of one place that says they have the computer hardware needed. Don't know what they charge yet. But I'm wondering about what questions to ask other shops without the Mini computer hardware as to what they can or cannot do. I've found one who says they cannot take the engine apart etc but can do oil change, brake fluid change, etc.

Thanks mini-Wisconsin.

I'm still wondering about the onboard computer-can a regular diagnostic computer work on my 2009 Clubman? And is there one I can buy that is any good and reasonable?

First of all...I lived in Hawaii for 3-years in the late 90s...I loved it!

There are lots of MINI code readers available...some of them have the capability to reset the airbag system...a lot of people like the C110 which sells for around $50...but I am not recommending anything...the choice is yours. Perhaps there is a better code reader out there.
