Repair Front Cigarette Lighter

I have a friend who owns a Countryman and the front cigarette lighter/accessory power port has stopped working. She went to the dealer and they quoted her $180 to repair it (they said its not the fuse). Looking at some other threads I think I just need the $5 part here: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...037/ES2673078/. How do I remove the one currently in the car and replace it? Do I need to remove the plastic console around it? If so how?

You should just have to pull the cup holder. There are two screws in the bottom of the cup holder wells and two more under the rubber strip in the center rail. Remove all screws, pull up gently and disconnect wires, two wires that run to the aux and usb and one that goes to the power point. Watch out for the LED modules that light up the rail, they tend to get caught up in the cup holder. Once you get the cup holder out the power point takes some doing to get it out, there are two clips on the orange ring that hold it to the cup holder, undo those and work it out.

Yea the two clips on the socket are the main holder for the Luminous ring :

Thanks guys. I will let my friend know it's an easy job and that I can take care of it for her if she wants.

Welcome. Those luminous rings snap all the time when you pull them out on the tabs , so be careful.
