Emblem repair
Emblem repair
So while detailing my Mini this past week I lost the whole black center part of my rear emblem. I'm sure this happens quite frequently, but I can't seem to find anyone who is producing an overlay or repair for this. Can someone point me in the right direction or am I just gonna have to spring for a new one?

I hoped someone here was maybe producing decals as overlays. I know I can't be the first person to have this happen.
A decal would not work....would sit way to deep...

I understand what you guys are saying about the badge being curved. I guess for $10 it may be worth attempting a repair with an overlay.
I'm really good at putting stickers on crooked or with wrinkles so I avoid stickers.
We do stock the emblems as we see car washes buff them off all the time.

Or a one time $20-30 new part....5 minute job, good for another 10+ years..and will look right...no flat decal inset in hole or flat on a hunk of plastic that does not look or feel right...
A badge is kinda important....or you would not be worrying about it...
Do it right.
Spending 30% of the sure fix to "try" an juryrig fix...lol...if it was $2 sticker...maybe...but $10?!
Most people just replace the whole emblem. Peal and stick.

You are welcome. The floss and a heat gun or in the sun works best for the whole emblem.

Depending on the age of your MINI, it may prove more difficult than the video shows you. I have a '07 Cooper S and it was waaaaaaay more difficult than this video alludes to. I also debadged my car by taking off the "Cooper S". That was super easy so I suspect it was replaced once before. But I was seriously suprised how hard the double sided tape was on the rear emblem. Just take your time and be gentle. You dont want to scratch up your car and wish you left it on.

I used some of the plastic interior pry tools to get a enough of a gap to work the fishing line in, but it took some time. Goo-Gone is your friend.
I've debadged and rebadged many emblems, so that's not a concern. I was just wondering if I could save a couple bucks and a couple minutes
If anyone wants some tips, try spraying 3M Wax and Adhesive remover (can purchase at the Walmart) down behind the emblem and let it dwell just a minute or so, then get some high test fishing line and "saw" through the adhesive, then use the 3M Wax and Adhesive remover to remove any remaining adhesive from both the car and the emblem (if you're going to reuse it that is) with a towel. Any scratches or outlines left behind by the old emblem can usually be buffed out with a polisher and some compound.
