Meatballs (racing numbers)= Tickets?

So, yea, I've always loved the look of racing decals... namely racing numbers on the doors of cars.. and Mini's seem to really lend themselves to the look.

Do you find that they attract attention from the police? I can really see a cop thinking "oh this guy thinks they are a race car driver.." deal..

I speed, but not crazy. I drive spirited... but not crazy.. I never speed on local side roads, I'll pull away from a light quickly, but never over speed.

Thoughts?

You're more likely to call attention to yourself with crazy, erratic driving than having a number plastered on the side of your MINI. Go for it, danjreed. If you get pulled over, be sure to post your pics on the following NAM thread:

We've probably put around 5k miles on the mini in it's current stickered form in the DC Metro Area and haven't had a single issue. Then again I always get teased by my friends that I drive like a grandma on the street so YMMV.

I have been thinking about the circle number decals too...I say do it, no different than the hood stripes really. Have you priced the decals?

I used to drive my SCCA Showroon Stock Sedan on the street, numbers and all. I never got a ticket or any other undue attention from Johnny Law. Naturally, since I was driving a conspicuous vehicle, I drove it within the law.

Thanks. Mike Snyder at SSC Tint @ Graphics did it. He's in Elizabethtown PA so not too far from you. He does most of the local autocrossers in the DC region. His work is hugely impressive. Send me a PM if you want to see some more examples of his work.

I work with Mike's (very proud) father, so I've seen a lot of his work. He is amazing at what he does!

If your going to speed

Forget the decals… Invest in an Escort 9500xi radar/laser detector. It's paid for itself in spades.

I believe I read a thread on NAM that said you yield an extra 15hp and 20 TQ by debadging and removing all stickers including rally stripes? That's what I did....man I'm fast! seriously, sticker it up and vinyl wrap what and how you like...it's a mini and it is yours..Cheers, enjoy and be sure to post pics..
