Made me curious about Radar Detectors available today???
Aircraft Model
Ok, so who sells the aircraft model? Just kidding.
It is very apparent to me that we all have such different driving styles and places. Wide open roads and tourist traps. That said......
I live in a small town, Cops love to get you if you are 5mph over and the speed limits are 25 mph, 30 mph, 35 mph and some areas 45 mph.
Nice shiny new police cars, push bumpers, DUI Special Task Force, Blacked out whatever.
There is this one area where two lanes go to one lane. Signs say merge left. Do they merge left? No, they will speed up and run you into on coming traffic. Or in the center of the town square were it is four lanes one way. They criss cross as if deciding to make a right turn from the farthest left lane at the last minute.
You would think that the Cops would pull over these other infractions but apparently they do not. Not sure why? Maybe I have it all wrong. I would think they they would want everyone safe?
And what about driving with no lights at night? No mirrors, or plates? I see it all. Nice expensive cars and well, not so nice ones.
For me it is like one of those carnival bumper car rides. It is a good day if I can get from point A to point B and not get run into or at the very least get by with one or two near misses at a very low speed.
Maybe I just need an idiot detector?
I think in part the problem is no Driver Education is offered in schools here. I remember those classes at my age. I am sure many don't pay for the Drivers Ed courses that are private. Expensive I am sure but also worth the money.

I have not run radar detectors for years. Always relied on the rabbit method.
Find the fastest car going your direction and follow him a mile or so back.
If a faster car comes along you upgrade. My issue is they are even to slow!
I do a lot of bouncing back and forth between AZ and WA state. This is wide open high desert country unless you take the I-5 Cali route which is slow and long. I take mainly 2 lane roads and get as remote as I can. I decided to try a detector again. Like a previous post this is just a tool. I did my research and bought the Escort Redline which is really designed for long distance open travel( Not the best in the city as it is sensitive. I works good and has saved me 3 or 4 tickets in the last year. You would be surprised how many under cover and unmarked cars that you pass going the other direction. lucky for the non users they are usually not interested in speeders. In my last trip I slowed while other blasted past me at 80 to go by cops who were not interested or headed home.
My concerns are when there is not other traffic on the road. You are dead meat for instant on or a cop just sitting it the bushes waiting. I hardly ever see that as they have too much ground to cover out west and are always on the go. I got a ticket in NV last year. The MINI runs about the same 18 hours to do the 1428 miles as my Maserati. Mini is way more stealthy and quite. I got popped for 92 in 65 in the Maserati but he only wrote me for 74. I was going much faster not to long before and did get her slowed to 92. Was way off in the distance and came around a corner. Was a Tahoe so looked like a contractor or farmer. I lifted just in case and then the he hit me with instant on. Not much I could do.
Got lucky on a Santa Fe trip a few weeks ago. I was hauling in the Maser and was gaining fast on the car ahead of me who was speeding also. I got the alarm and hit the brakes thinking I was dead meat. The cop was coming the other way and hit his light so I broke hard to give him room to turn in front of me which he did. He looked confused. I think he actually got the guy in front of me who was speeding but he got him with my speed which was higher. A little luck helps too.
Curious to hear from guys with Radar Jammers about how well they work.
