Ok, I know there are a couple of threads talking about how many miles are on your mini, but I want to cut to the chase.....

how many of you have over 150,000 miles? over 200,000 miles?

I just departed from my traditional Hondas to purchase a new mini Countryman. Each of my last three Hondas had over 200,000 miles, mostly trouble-free. Just want to know if that's possible with my new mini!

You might not hear many replies because of the profile of those on this board. I did read one person at 300,000. But since many on this website are those that are enthusiast versus collectors. And fewer general commuters that just rack up huge freeway miles.

I've run by many folks here with 1st gen MINIs that are far beyond the 150k miles mark. I'm almost there, but did have a problem with CVT automatic transmission, which MINI has thankfully removed from their cars.

Can't speak for the 2nd gens, but I would think they should hold up well too.

Haven't worked on Hondas at all, but just from doing maintenance on my Mazda3 and my MINI, I notice that the quality of materials on the MINI is noticeably better than on the Mazda. Less rust and deterioration of suspension components among other things... makes me halfway wish I had gone with a countryman instead of a 3, but I'm afraid I'm stuck for the time being...

I don't know about Mazdas, but I know that my Hondas are built better than the Subara that I had. It drove well but was a tin can essentially as far as build. The older Hondas rusted, but the engines went forever.

My 2004 CR-V has 196,000+ miles on it and not a speck of rust. The only thing that's gone wrong with it outside the normal things is about 6 months ago the drive shaft to the rear (it's ALL4) fractured. I could of replaced it, but for $50 I just had it removed and now I have the front wheel drive version.

Anyway, getting off topic. I love the Hondas I've had, but I wanted something that was a bit more fun to drive. My wife wanted a Mini Convertible, and I have to admit I liked it, but still need something practical for my work, and the Countryman was just the thing.

I'm just hoping that I get many trouble-free miles out of it, and I'm hoping to keep it for 10 years and guessing I'll be putting around 15,000 miles on it a year average.

My 03s is currently at 308,9xx and will turn 309,000 tomorrow morning. I know of an 07s around here with 371,000.

Not quite at 150k, but I'll be there soon. I'm just shy of 132k now and I've got a summer full of motoring events ahead.

I'm at 130,000 on my 03 MCS. I had the clutch done two years ago when it started slipping and a few loose ends fixed like bushings and bearings. The only on the road problem was when the boost control valve went out and I had to drive it easy to get home. I just had the power steering pump and fan replaced under the extended warranty. I've had the brake pads and rotors replaced about every year and same for the tires. The clutch is expensive get done but otherwise the Mini has been good.

133K on an 04 MCS, original clutch, did water pump and Supercharger at about 120K did not want to wait for it to go. 1 set of brakes original rotors, car just keeps running, burns about a quart every 1400 miles or so.

My 04 MC has 155k on it, only ever had to replace a battery, the power steering resivor hose, and boots on the axles. Obviously batteries tend to only last ~7 years, and the other 3 are rubber parts, so no mechanic problems yet! And still original clutch

i have 161,000 on my 08' R56. got it with 110,000 2 years ago. never had any major issues. typical auxilary water pump replacement, oil hange, brakes, and tires. make sure you stay on top of the walnut shell cleaning procedure between 25-30,000 miles. use mobile 1 oil and change it every 3000 miles even if they do say 10,000 mile oil change or whatever that rediculus number is and IMO it should go a long ways.

My 02 R50 is at about 214,000 and have had many problems mostly because of my bad luck I think... Put in one clutch, replaced the transmission 5 spd manual caused by a slow leak at the axle that i didn't notice so it ran dry for too long not really because of any defect except the axle was bad and ate up the seal, rebuilt the power steering pump which after a couple years broke again so now I drive her with what i call EGPS (Elbow Grease Power Steering) I just cant spend $580 on a new one, and just recently the 1st and 3rd cylinders threw their spark plugs so I popped a couple time-serts in about an hour and $210, and I've had a nagging problem with the throttle body that i cant figure out replaced it one then six months later had the same problem so i clean it out about once a month and aside from an occasional limp mode interaction and side of the road tb cleaning that seems to do it.

So ya... I've had my problems and many have told me to get rid of her but as many of you probably agree theres just something about a Mini that makes it well worth it. Jaquie will never be sold! Besides one of these days I'll catch up and she will be cherry again!
now on to find some good new tires...

Bought mine with 163k on it and just replaced the flywheel and clutch due to slipping. Super charger is on the list with a pulley this month plus suspension. Other than that the car is solid, I would like to do a compression test for fun but it's good to go.

No leaks since I replaced the crank sensor and did the rear main seal for fun.

My 2003 Justa has 150752 miles. Bought it a year ago with 137239. It has been reliable for me. I replaced the battery and power steering fan. Getting ready to do front control arm bushings and balljoints. I also installed a trailer hitch.

The guys in the service side of the dealership do see 150k+ mile MINIs. It is definitely important to keep up on the maintenance after this point too.

I'm always glad to see a car that is driven well.

Have 329,000 on my first '05 R53 MINI. Bought another identical '05 R53 that is two weeks newer, now has 103,000 on it. NO major issues. Replaced crank pulley on both when the rubber sheared. Alternator, clutch (at 200,000) slave cylinder, wheel bearing, PS pump, a valve spring, and fuel pump on first MINI were only major faults. All repairs at home. Have 3 MINIs now, not done yet...

Thanks for reviving this thread - always great to hear how the first gens are holding up. Way Motor Works which works almost exclusively on MINIs always says the '05 and '06 Cooper S's are the most reliable out there.

My '03 justa has had its share of problems, the biggest and most $$ being the CVT transmission. Its never stranded me though. I'm just past 151,000 now...
