General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
I am about half way there on my 2016, just turned 72,000 toady. No issues along the way, just the normal service requirements. I hope to catch some of you folks on here!
I’ve an ‘05 R53 (S Convertable) with 163k miles on it. It hasn’t been completely trouble free but I love the car and for the most part have enjoyed working on it.
210,000-ish on my ‘06 R52. I can’t take credit for all the miles though as I bought it with 206,000-ish miles on it almost 2 years ago. It’s a summer only fair weather vehicle now.
2011 base manual at 168,170 miles. In the last two years I have acquired three other cars for fun and as possible replacement of the MINI, but she's still the most fun and safe daily driver. 36+ mpg which is down from 38+ a few years ago. Never left me stranded. The worst she ever had was a valve cover gasket leak that allowed oil to wet one or two of the spark plugs, so she was weak and couldn't push past 80 mph. A steady coolant leak is under close monitoring. Otherwise the oil burning is OK. :-)
2007 S Sidewalk Edition manual. 247,000 miles. Just dropped $3374.00 for new clutch (replacing original), supercharger service, many oil leaks repaired, water pump gasket replaced, and a few other minor things. My wife really wants me to get a new car, but I just don't like the newer MINIs and I really don't want to take on a car payment either. I'm gonna keep driving this MINI until it can't be repaired anymore, but I'd probably be wise to try to find a cheap used back-up vehicle!
2004 MCS. Bought it with 183,000 over 6 years ago. Just rolled over 376,000. Have replace clutch and had SC rebuilt at around 260,000. The wife wants me to look at newer Mini's, but still love this one.
03 MCS. Bought in 2016 with 100,000 and just rolled to 189,000. Had a new clutch put in at 165,000. Love this car, hoping to pass to my youngest son in 2 years for him to have.
Original owner of 2003 R53 with a couple hundred miles over 150,000. It's always been a daily driver (first for the wife, now for me). Obviously, at around 10,000 miles per year, I don't accrue very many miles - a tank of gas lasts me almost 2 weeks.
I need to replace the valve cover gasket and upper strut mounts (again), both window regulators, fuel level sender, probably the sunroof track and a new set of tires.
I really like commuting in it but I miss when we used to road trip it. We're hoping to save it for when our daughter turns 16 in a few years. You know, teach her to drive an manual transmission on it.
Love seeing the milage guys are getting out of R53's on here. With my 06 JCW sitting at only 16,000 miles, I would imagine I have alot to look forward to!!!!
We have 158000 on our 08 Cooper without any real problems. Replaced a sensor and a valve cover gasket and coil packs and plugs. Still on the original clutch too!
