List of Vendors to use or vendors to stay away from in your OPINION and why?

Here is my OPINION from numerous compalints about them on MINI forums.

Mini Mania- ridiculous prices
Madness MINI - advertises a product and ships something else
IronHorse Coopersports- poor customer service

You now can add your own vendors to the list. Make it short and simple in detail.

There is a review section for both product and vendor on the left bar under marketplace. It is somewhat underutilized but it does provide some info on both.

My vote: ALTA for some poor quality products and blame the customer terrible actual after sales customer service (twice).

Although I agree with some of the statements, this thread is going to be completely useless in a matter of no time because people's OPINIONS differ. Heck, your original statement isn't even based on personal experience. There are people who may have bad experiences with a vendor, and probably just as many that have had good experiences with the same vendor. You've created a thread that captures only negative aspects. If everyone replied with every negative experience they've ever had with a MINI vendor, there wouldn't be ANY vendors left out. I've seen bad experience threads about pretty much every single vendor. I see this thread as completely inflammatory, and a detriment to the MINI vendor community in general.

I agree. caveat emptor - unless there is a vendor out there just blatantly screwing people or taking advantage of the forum public face. Those guys will be ferretted out pretty quick. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Yes, but have you actively searched out people who have purchased from those same vendors and had great experiences? People tend to post waaay more about negative experiences than they do positive, because most people expect to have a positive experience. If they get what they expect, well.... there's not much to write about. If they don't get what they expect, they're way more apt to write about it. I fully admit that this is an assumption, but I don't think you've done the research to form and "educated" opinion.

I agree mini mania is over priced they act as a middleman adding there percentage to a part you could order yourself. I ordered a speedo cable from them for my classic and it just ended up being shipped out of the UK if I had ordered direct it would have cost less I was just hoping they had it in stock I wouldn't have to wait very long.

I had an issue with Detroit tuned(high pressure sales) I have heard that he now has a new person doing sales and he is much better about it.

M7 has an issue with not keeping things in stock I waited 3 months for the strut tower bar.

TCE performance is local down here and after meeting with him and buying in person I would say he is a good guy and recommend his kits.

Mynes/Bytetronik is good I recommend buying the tuning parts and kit direct from them as they have the best prices on all the tuning kit components.

I haven't had an issue with Alta, Way, or Craven speed.

If I didn't list a shop it's because I have no personal ordering experience with them.

I wasn't asking for any examples, and certainly not negative ones. I was asking if you've done research on POSITIVE examples. Like I said before - people post their negative experiences, and very rarely their positive experiences. Hence, if you're going only by what you've read, your opinion is biased. What's the point of a completely biased thread?
I also said that I agree with some of what you said. Are MiniMania's prices way too high? Absolutely! However - it is the their right to set their prices at whatever they want, and the consumer's responsibility to shop around and get the best price. I have purchased from MiniMania, but only when I had a coupon code on top of a sale. I was very pleased with my experience with MiniMania. I've also purchased from Madness, and had a great experience. Did I order headers.....nope. This is my point - for every negative experience, there is usually also positive experiences.
So far, in this thread already, we've got negative on MiniMania, Madness, IronHorse Coopersports, M7, Alta and Detroit Tuned. I've read bad reviews for RMW, WayMotorWorks, Mynes, and a myriad of other vendors. Since this thread is titled "Vendors to stay away from...", then I guess there are no vendors that I should ever purchase from, because they are all going to end up in this thread. This thread is pointless.
You, of course, have the right to post whatever you want, and I have nothing against your right to do so.

All I did was ask for a list of venders to stay away from and why? Thats why i said WHY you should stay way from them. So this makes this thread peoples opinions, which is what I was looking for.

Your opinion is what I am looking for. Thats all. I listen to people and there experiences to base where I might spend my money. Does that make sense now?

Some may regret the loss of a past vendor because of the harassment he received by unhappy people who did not know that he was running a good business out of his home shop. A one horse show runs into scheduling problems and sometimes things fall thru the cracks (NEVER has happened to me ) so instead of being patient, people got nasty and the guy said to he!! with it, he didn't need the grief. I'd been a very satisfied customer for a little over three years and really miss his shop as a resource.

It would be of no value, only of academic interest if anyone really cared, to know the percentage of voiced problems on car forums to all the other happy motorers that are never heard from. This whole idea of listing problems reminds me of the blind guys trying to describe an elephant.

I dont understand what is so difficult about wanting to hear a persons opinion on any forum about any negative experiences with vendors.

It makes sense, of course. But if all you're doing is reading negative posts, you're going to run out of vendors to spend your money with. Does that make sense? You're just going about this in the wrong way. If you want to choose a good vendor, put out a post asking for people's opinions about a certain vendor. Not a blanket post basically asking for gripes about every vendor, because that is what this is.

Does a blind guy not have people giving him a persons opinion on what an elephant looks like. Does the blind guy not learn from people and their experiences? How does the blind guy learn? Oh thats right, from words from someones mouth.

It didn't help. It's still asking the same flawed question. I've said my piece, and will say no more. The thread is yours.

In order to save this thread it should be renamed something like "experiences with vendors". To try and get the good and bad experiences many people in the community have had.
