Would love opinion -MCS vs CMS

I have wanted a MCS for 8 years now and am finally going to do it as I dislike my forester a lot and actually think its making me sick. But that's not what this thread is about.

So. I would love to hear your opinions.

Do I get the cooper s and just finally have fun??? Or should I be somewhat responsible and get a CM? I have read reviews if the CM and they all sound like its hot some issues as in it gets old before its time... But the one thing I love about the forester is that I have room for everything. And I know my hubby would like the CM because its bigger and therefore safer in his mind.

But the Mini Cooper S has been my dream for 8 years. I LOVE the spice orange color with black roof/wheels or the dr gray. Or the brg color. But is it too small?

Before the forester I had an impreza, a wrangler, a prelude, a Nissan 240. So I have both big and small. I'm in NJ so there is the some snow issue...

So please.... I would love to hear. Thanks so much !!

MCS, Peep, MCS. There are tales and pics of MINI's hitting and getting hit by SUV's and the like and the people in the MINI's surviving without a scratch. Usually the SUV is extremely screwed. MINIs are safe. If it's going to be your car, get what YOU want. You'll regret it every day if you don't.

In my estimation the S will be more reliable. The engine is better matched to the size and weight of the vehicle.

Okay, my opinion is who gives a crap what color you get it will be your choice. Next CM being a responsible choice, hardly. Getting a MINI is a choice that does not require responsibility. I love my Hardtop MCS, as you can see I am making it faster https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...wn-begins.html , because it holds more true to what MINI really is. Now my has a CM and it is fun in itself but, not for me. Choose what you want, test drive both, and by all means search here for answers to your questions and what people think about them.

I have an MCS and I'm constantly amazed by how big the Mini feels when driving it. The interior is roomy and you don't sit much lower than regular size sedans, etc. so visibility isn't bad. Plus the hardtop has about zero blind spots which is great - I feel much safer changing lanes in my Mini than in my SUV.

Like you said, both have their pros and cons, it just depends on what your priorities are. Test drive both, then have someone tell you which one to get. If you find you make excuses to get the other one- well, then you know what your heart really wants.

I'm totally biased but here goes. I feel life is too short to settle over something like a material object. If your heart is longing for an MCS, then I would pull the trigger on an MCS. I own a 2004 MCS that I just picked up. I traded in an FJ Cruiser because my driving habits changed dramatically.

The Cooper lacks rear seat room, but overall feels incredibly spacious for two up driving. The storage in the boot is minimal, but the pure joy you will experience every time you drive or look at it can't be measured.

My vote would be for an MCS!

Have fun.

I had my eye on a lease return JCW MINI, but after taking my wife and ten year old son on a test ride they saw a Clubman S sitting in the lot that caught their eye.

We took the Clubman S for a test ride and both my wife and son - he had to sit in the back - decided they wanted it.

After eight months my wife loves this car as her grocery getter and kid mover, plus she bakes on the side and has a lot of room in the back.

Have you looked into a Clubman S - kind of the best of both worlds - still sporty and a blast to drive, but with room in the back seat and room behind the back seat too.

We love ours.

I have had both; MCS is the way to go - no question. Just traded the Countryman S after enduring 2 years with it. Lost its value almost off the lot and I barely got $20k back. My MCS is still holding strong. Clutch in the CMS was terrible as was the interior creeks and groans.
