Ambient Mood Lighting Question

In my '12 R56, when I open the door, the Ambient Mood Lighting cycles through all of the colors before stopping on the color I have selected. Is there a way to turn this off? I'd like for it to come on with the color I have selected ONLY.

Thanks

In my 2013, if you push the ambient lighting switch forward, it'll force it to cycle through the colors, and stay on the one you stop on. To put it back to random, just hold it forward for 10 secs.

I know, I got that. But I'm talking about when you unlock the car and open the door before inserting the key. My car cycles through all the colors once before stopping on the color I have selected. Then it stays put. Is there a way to turn this off, so it only displays the selected color?

I have a '13 MCS WITHOUT comfort access and mine cycles through all the colors once before stopping on my selected color as well. It does this when I open the door after I unlock the car. No way to turn that feature off that I'm aware of.

I also did not know about the random selection by pushing the button forward for 10 seconds though either.

My car doesn't have comfort access. It is a JCW - is it something only the JCW's do?

Really? That kind of stinks. I would think there was a way to disable the light show for those of us who don't want it. Dealer told me the same thing, no way to turn off. I didn't believe them so I posted the question here. I will call Mini USA when I get a chance and ask them. Seems like I'm not the only person who doesn't want a light show every time they get in the car?

I honestly don't really mind it to much since it stops on my color, and it is pretty rapid... but if you do find a way to disable it, please let us know. Who knows, one day I may grow tired of it.

Kinda cool actually unless you're worried about snipers.

I don't have comfort access either. Mine also only comes on after I put puck in slot.

I'm pretty sure my MA told me how to shut it off completely when we took delivery of our '12 MCS, but I don't remember how. Did you check the manual?
The only issue I have with mine is that I like red and my wife keeps changing it to purple. It doesn't cycle through the different colors on its own, just seems to keep ending up on purple!

I have comfort access and mine cycles briefly when I first open the door.
