question on the sport package

Hey all. Looking at an 07-09 cooper s and was wondering if there is an easy way to visibly spot if it has the sport package or not... stupid question I know but I couldn't find much online about any visual differences. Only thing I can see is the xenon lights but I'm not sure if you can easily spot those under the hood or not (I'm not car shopping at night). Are the shocks a different color than the standard ones or anything? Thanks.

Xenons is one thing, but it also gives you the clear turn signal markers instead of yellow, upgrades you to 17" wheels and gives you the option of free black or white hood stripes. The hood stripes are not always taken as an option, so that's not a givaway, but the turn signal markers are. Also, the sport package gives you the DTC so there is a DTC button to the upper right of the shifter inside the car.

All the options are available out of the package, so the car might not have had the package. I don't see why it matters if the car had the package or individual options.

actually it IS easy to spot xenon cuz they have the washers built into the housing. Standard halogen lights don't need the washers (a US regulation for the fancy lights as I understand)

Keep in mind that the sport package does not give you the sport suspension. The sport suspension is a separate option and can be gotten without the sport package.

Sport package doesn't include the sport suspension, they're different options.

Oh gotcha. I thought the sports package came with the sport suspension. Thanks for the heads up.

The contents of the sport package change at MINI's whim. I seem to recall that the sport suspension WAS included in at least some of the years 2007-9. There are color codes and labels on my 2010 sport suspension bits. It's wet and dark out there right now or I would go look.

I have an 07 with sport package. I think it came with the sport suspension included.
The big give away is the sport seats which were much much better than the base
seats for 07. It also has the DSC button which the base does not.
I think it included both front and rear fogs at that time. Mine had a build date of
12/06 and I think a lot changed later on.

Drive the car. If your teeth and kidneys rattle, it has the sport suspension. If those things only knock together a little, then the run flat tires have been removed.
