Thanks! I'm sorry, but development on the Motoring Database has taken a backseat to preparing for the AMVIV II dinner. I'll be getting back to it though. =)

I made some signficant site changes to our club site at c3club.org which hosts the database. If anyone encounters a broken page, please let me know so I can fix it.

I checked your site and there are no MINI's within 100 miles . Its lonely down here in the south.

 

Well it's a voluntary registration promoted through NAM and various MINI clubs. 636 MINI's obviously doesn't represent ALL the MINI's sold. If you got any friends or neighbors with MINI's that aren't signed up, get them signed up.

 

Btw, please realize that I get a copy of EVERY registration announcement that comes through, and the number one mistake I find, are people inputting incorrect email addresses. If it's an obvious mistake I will attempt to contact you with the corrected info, and will manually process the verification, otherwise it just goes into a black hole.

You will not be listed until your registration is verified. That is, if your email address is wrong, or gets put in your SPAM box, and goes unverified, you won't be able to register it again.

So please double check your addresses, and make sure they are legit. I just saw two failed ones now from a

How did you get on this list and how can you get off??
When you register for the National MINI Motoring Database aka FindaMotoringBuddy.com, an email confirmation is sent to you for verification. If you didn't click on the link, then you didn't finalize the confirmation.

The most common reason you didn't receive an email confirmation is that you entered your email wrong.

The second most common is that the email went into your SPAM folder and you didn't know it.

The third is that you simply forgot.

I just updated 11 ZIP codes in the database. Please, when you submit a MISSING ZIP code please do a search first and use the provided link to submit it. Don't submit a MISSING ZIP just because there aren't any MINIs in your area.

Each request is confirmed against a national database before being entered into the Motoring Database, and this takes time. Submiting false or incorrect entries will only delay the entry of valid ZIP codes for everyone else.

This tool is now Mozilla FireFox friendly as well as the c3club.org website that hosts it. I also fixed numerous bugs that should improve usability. The site was still designed for IE 6+, but FireFox seems to work fine now.

I've also included a Chat Link on the HELP menu in case anyone needs some help or advice.

My webhost pulled a fast one on me and caused all my sites to crash. I've been busy rebuilding--from the Database on up to figure out why things aren't working. I've managed to recover 2 of my websites, but I'm still working on this application. In case anyone was wondering why it's not working.

 

hey Richard, in answer to some questions you put to me over on the MC2 thread, no , I wasn't signed in when I got the blank page on the "contact" link. The other item was that I seem to be listed as having JCW on my car, and I don't (even though I DO have everything installed aftermarket to more than qualify!).I'll go back to your site and sign in and have a look at my profile and see if I can make the change myself. Sorry to hear of you woes with this site, I think it's really cool that you took the time to put this together, Motor on dude! Jock

What a great idea...I am not that computer literate and thought I would get hemmed up...but it was easy...there are a lot of MINI owners here in Key West, and I see a lot of visiting MINIs...it would be fun to get together and compare notes and road stories. I guess no one else has read the manual that says it's okay to give the thumbs up, wave or otherwise say hello to fellow motoring MINs out there....when I do it, they look and me like I have three heads! I gave it a shot and it came up with only one MINI owner in Conroe, Arkansas! I know that's not right. I know about 20 just in the Houston, TX metro area. Is there something wrong about this thing. My zip is 77355
