Mom Loves the MINI

Went to see my mom today. She is 89 yrs old. Took her for a ride by the beach and we stopped for lunch. She absolutely loved the car and mused that my dad, who passed away last summer would have really loved it. I think I got my love of cars from him.

On the way back from the restaurant another MINI pulled up next to us at a light and called across to us complementing me on he new car saying it was the first roadster he'd seen. Mom beamed from ear to ear.

She made one suggestion -- that I keep an extra hat and pair of sunglasses in the car for when I take her out for rides in the new car.

Your mom sounds great! So when you gonna let her drive it?

What a great story, Rev! I am sure shed look fabulous with a pretty scarf to tie around her hair, under the hat.

Hmmmmm, how about never? We had to take the keys to the car last year. She lives in an "Adult Community" where all her transportation needs are taken care of. I see her at least once a week and she always checks the parking lot for my car. I surprised her today by parking under the drive entryway. There was a small crowd eyeballing the car when I brought her down from her apartment. "Is that your car?" she squealed with delight and we drove away leaving more than a couple jealous ladies.

Next week I get to take my two oldest grandsons for rides. (I'm not going to worry about the seatbelt laws, they're both almost big enough.) One will want to go to McD's and the other to DQ. Both will be bummed out when I tell them, "no food in the car!"
