Question about air conditioner
Question about air conditioner
Is the auto air conditioner much different from the manual in terms of temperature range and fine tuning the fan? Or is it the same system with different controls? I've only tried the manual and the lowest setting of the fan seemed too strong to me. Is the auto much better?

IMHO Auto setting works better and great. Set at desired temp and let the system do its thing and not worry about it anymore. Adjust the temp if you want it cooler or warmer...
I have auto air and love it. I just set the temp at 72 and leave it .
The fan will fluctuate from blowing high ..to heat up or cool off the car. And will self adjust to blowing low. To keep a nice even temp.
Much like any option. Is I really needed no. Like power windows and heated seats. Once you have certain options you tend to repeat them in future cars

The underhood bits are supposedly the same, but any time I've had a loaner with manual AC it's not cooled down as fast as my current or previous cars with auto AC have. Not sure why that would be the case.
Auto AC is on my "non-negotiable" list of must-have options.

Thanks for the info, that's what I imagined. I'm used to an auto air conditioner in my other car. When I ordered the Mini, I sort of flipped a coin and chose the manual. I don't know what I was thinking. I went back and tried the manual and it seems limited. And the fan is too loud at its lowest setting.
I know it's supposed to be all about the driving, but there's also sitting in the vehicle.
You can't retrofit this, right? I couldn't have them install the auto air conditioner, could I?
I may be starting a whole new order. That's what this is adding up to.

I was going to put this in my above post, but didn't think it was relevant at the time, but I also L@VE the Auto/Heater with the Auto A/C it is just as important to me as the Auto A/C, most of the time it is set to "HIGH" a perfect combination with the Bun Warmers!!
