Holy Smokes Can You Believe This??
Wow gas prices are outrageous now. I just passed by my normal Chevron station yesterday and the premium gas was $4.15 per gallon. The Chevron station in the local town near me is $4.25 per gallon for premium. And this was yesterday!!
I don't know about you all but I'm glad I drive a Mini. My GTO may be parked a bit more now.
I suspect it will be at or above $5.00 per gallon by summers end. Yikes!!

And the best part? I have a 400 mile road trip planned the first weekend of March...yay!
This seems to happen every year: gas prices soar, people panic, gas prices go back down, people forget.
I don't think they'll reach $5 a gallon in Georgia (currently hovering around $4), but if it does I'll just readjust my budget to account for it. Basically if I pack my lunch one day a week and hold off on the deserts over the weekend I don't even notice the hike in price.

Yeah prices are hiking up around here also. We can generally find it for 3.80-3.90 at most stations.
I have been using the BIG BOX stores,(Samsclub, BJ's, Costco) not sure if everyone has them, but i found gas there for about .15-.20 cents less. Some people say that the gas has certain detergents in it that may not be good for cars on a regular basis, so i switch up every 2 or 3 fills-ups, just in case, but never had any issues.

About $3.85 for premium down here in lower Alabama but that's today.
Tomorrow's another story. Happens every year, then it stabilizes, people get used to it, it drops slightly, but still high but we all think we're getting a deal when it levels out.
Saw a good bumper sticker the other day:
It was a picture of President Bush saying "how do you like the change now."

The reason is more speculation, just like in 2008.

Hope this helps...
I predict higher tha $5. As middle east turmoil rises so does the fuel costs. Someplaces in Europe are $8-9 gallon now. They just don't waste it like we do here. They would never wait in line for 20 minutes idling for a latte. And they drive car like ours and not huge suv with one person in it. My. $.02 worth.
CO seems to be holding lower than the national average this time...not sure why. $3.41 at Shell today. Too bad I'm moving to Alaska on Monday...
@dr.simmons and minirab: We're at the end of oil. Blame it on liberals if you like, but that won't generate fossil fuel. Maybe with scarcity we'll see some sanity go along with consumption (finally).
Yup I agree with most of you. Iran and Israel are the big heaters in the world now. (Iran lunatics with a nuclear weapon is scary in my opinion but I digress.
)
I think it just a matter of time before we catch up with Europe.
I feel for those folks that are on a tight strict budget. It's difficult for many people to just cut from one budget account and allocate to another. When your at the bare bones and with no emergency fund it can get quite difficult.
For those that have more flexibility it's something that can be managed. I believe that most average american families will find these large price hikes hard to tolerate.

Will GM and Chrysler be looking for a bailout again when gas hits $5 and SUV/truck sales tank.
Glad my wife had a TDI for the long trips, so far been averaging a little over 45 MPG while cruising at 80 MPH
Unfortunately costs for shipping, food and everthing else will start to go up as a result of the high oil prices-Inflation:(

That is a disgusting picture, but it is 23 gallons.... while driving through NYC today I saw premium at $4.79..... O.O Made it long enough to make it to Jersey though, premium was almost 90 cents cheaper
