Any drummers out there?

I'm seriously considering picking up a Mini soon, but as a drummer I'm wondering if I'll have to step up to the Clubman or Countryman.

At the moment I drive a Jeep Wrangler, so it's not like I've got some big SUV, but I can remove the rear seat completely and pack a full 5-piece kit in there, plus a djembe and cajon in the passenger's seat.

Anyone have experience cramming a kit into one of these things?

Many thanks....

I am a fellow drummer, but with my new job and heavy reduction in the number of gigs I play, I have never actually attempted to get it in there. Its possible I may be able to stick a 4 piece or so in the rear but I would probably recommend the countryman or clubman. Stop by the dealer and see the differences in cargo room. The clubman only gives you another 8 inches or so of depth in the trunk but it may be just enough depending on what size drums we are talking. If the dealer is close by, drive by your house and try it out.

Drummer here. I've got an R53 which has less space and the only way I could imagine it fitting my set is if I take off the drum heads and fit the smaller toms into the larger ones. (like one of those russian dolls)

I have transported part of my set and I can really only fit the bass drum, a snare, hi-hats, and one or 2 cymbals. Also my 14' floor tom in the front seat.

But even then my guitarist friend just helps me out with his CRV because he knows theres hardly any room.

I'd have to agree with this. Even with just soft cases for my 5-piece, there's no way all the pieces would fit in a regular cooper without removing the heads.

I just kept my Jeep Cherokee for hauling drums and band gear and drive the Mini for everything else.

I'd get an Xb (Oooooh!!!!! Ouch) Or a countryman. The clubman is cool, but the extra doors on the countryman make loading gear way easier.

As a fellow drummer, I just always make sure I'm nice to the friend who owns the truck.

I am a drummer, myself. I have transported my kit in many different vehicles, but never the mini (it's an R53). I hardly doubt a full kit would fit anyway with the rear seats in (even folded down.) Depending on the size of the drums, I would suggest, as mentioned, if the mini is the only option, then put one inside another..Not too practical, but it's a good thought.

I'm also too afraid it may scratch the leather..
