Fuel Injector Cleaners : Good or Bad

I know i might be posting this in the wrong section but here it goes

Are fuel injector Cleaners (Fuel additives) any good for the MINI. I used to use those products one every second fill up with my previous car and nothing bad ever happened but i have heard strange stories about how European car are different and that you shouldn't use any fuel additives.
To me this doesn't make any sense but I wanted to make sure.

BTW the injector cleaner I normally use is the one from my local shop (can't remember the name though)

Thx for help

Good in general, but be specific on your Mini model.

If you want a better answer, you should provide more info first. It varies between direct injection motors (as in, turbo generally) and the others.

BMW/MINI recommends you use Techron.

Per prior posts now, yes on Techron

It's port injection on your car, so the fuel injectors (with the additive) will actually reach your intake valves, unlike a direct injection motor where its only remaining purpose really is to remove gum in the fuel system generally.

Save the cost of the Techron and just buy Chevron (or Texaco) premium. Both have techron.

If you use a top grade fuel like Chevron, Texaco, Shell, etc you will be getting an excellent additive package so you won't need to use anything in addition.

I run a bottle of Techron through before every oil change. About 5,000 miles between changes. No problems at all.

You don't really need to if you have been using top tier premium gas the whole time.

Once every 5000 miles if you like you can try one can BG 44K fuel additive to a full tank of gas and run it and see if you can tell any difference.

Mostly it will help to keep things clear and functioning pretty well but unless you have dirty injectors and fuel system you may not notice that much.

see
http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html

I have used BG 44K for about 5 years and it's fine. You can find it pretty cheap on ebay.com. Local prices are fairly high and you can find it at many dealerships and garages.

I normally fill up with Shell once in a while (1/3 of the time)
With that being said, i should use additives when I'm filling up my normal gas station (Ultramar)

also, are there major differences between fuel additives injector cleaners ???

Add to ultramar? Probably not.

Fill up more often at Top Tier gas station? Probably good idea.

Most fuel additives are very similar. Most times you don't have to bother if you are not really noting any problems with performance or with mpg.

BG 44K is a once in awhile treatment for one tank of gas if you want perhaps once yearly or twice.

if i plan on using seefoam at the end of the winter (in around 3 months and a half). Should i wait for the seafoam to clean everything and then just maintain the cleanlyness by using additives (or BG 44K)
