Do Mini people still wave at each other??
Without looking closely, I had assumed it was a classic BMW. The one I saw recently was a 60's era BMW.
As a longtime Jeep driver, I found years ago that the waving was getting less and less response. I think it was a result of the popularity of the brand reaching out beyond those who really identify themselves with the car they drive. I gave up even though I had been doing it since the late 80's.
I haven't gotten one wave in my GP but as soon as I do, I'll be sure to reciprocate with a wave and a smile.

I was driving Winnie yesterday, and passed a silver MINI. It was either a Cabrio or a Roadster, but he had his top down. I had my windows open (a lovely So Cal day) I waved, and he waved back. I average a few return waves a week, not bad. One day I was 4 out of 5. You have to wave vigorously enough to catch their eye. Hubby says that when he drives the Coupe, he gets more waves from CMs than from HTs, then proceeded to prove it by getting three waves from CMs!

It's easier for Jeep people to decide who to wave to, their mods are usually more visible! When in the Jeep, we wave at all CJs, TJs, YJs, and modded JKs. In other words, we wave at Jeeps that either are older, or are modded. We don't bother with stock Jeeps any more. Too many that, as said above, aren't interested in the culture of the vehicle.
10% of the time I wave at people they wave back at me.
I attempt a wave at most 10% of the time.
You do the math from there...
So what do you guys/gals do if you are at a redlight and a MINI pulls up behind you? Do you wave then? I was in this situation and was a bit embarassed to wave. Person behind me didnt wave, otherwise I would have waved back.
Still, a nod's as good as a wink to a blind man.... C ya,
Dutch
I am going to keep waving whether I get one back or not........
To the electric blue R53 who threw me a peace sign on Saturday (I was the on-coming white Countryman w/red stripes on Hwy 84 in Woodside, CA): Sorry, I meant to acknowledge, but we passed each other too quickly!
Guess I was feeling bad for not acknowledging so I purposely waved to an on-coming modded R56 later that day, but the driver didn't respond. Must be karma... =/

I came to school late today so I couldn't find parking in my school parking lot. I went through the back and just decided to park on the streets like some of the college kids (my high school is behind a university). I saw this sky blue cooper with a black roof and decided to park beside it. It was a "justa" like mine too and had a six speed manual. Whoever you are I hope you're in the forums!
Heck yea, I would wave. Was behind a red mini in Knoxville at red-light......he was looking straight at me thru his rearview. I threw up my hand & he quickly quit looking as if he was not & did not wave. Oh well..........

I saw a red hardtop take a turn I was about to take. When I caught up there was another car between us but when we got to the light, I was right behind it. Waved but couldn't tell if he saw me or not. He took off when the light turned green and around the corner we both flew! Caught up to him but he was taking the next exit. He threw up his hand and waved first! First time I've not had to initiate! THANK YOU FOR WAVING! And giving me some fun motoring in the middle of my work day!
I went to lunch yesterday with a coworker in his Dodge Charger R/T. I saw more MINIs than I have in a long time (maybe because I wasn't driving) and waved at all of them. They probably thought I was crazy but not crazier than my coworker thought. He asked what the hey I was doing. I told him just mind your own business, shut up, and drive!
I once pulled up behind a Mini at a light and gave a little wave, since I could see the driver looking at me through his rearview mirror. To my surprise, he waved back! I definitely didn't expect that.
I am a proud waver!!!! In the Saint Louis area I am sad to say I don't get that many waves back. Now, there is powder blue parked in a visitor space at work today. Usually I am the only MINI in the parking lot...Tiny is happy for the company.
I saw my twin today. I pulled up beside her, I waved and honk the horn and she just gave me a look to kill. We MINIacs should have the right to take a MINI away from people like her. They don't deserve a MINI.
