Hood Scoop

I have a chrome hood scoop on my '10 MCS, and it is seemingly melting away and popping off. The only logical explanation I can think of is that the heat from the turbo is melting it. Will my warranty cover that or is it considered cosmetics or something?

Yes your warranty will cover it. I have had two replaced at no cost.

It will cover it but, as a suggestion I would not get chrome again those are the worst about melting and getting all messed up. See if they will let you do the CF one and if you don't want it have it painted.

I had to have my scoop replaced just two weeks ago due to warping. I asked about getting it replaced with the CF scoop but it was dismissed as a "free" possibility pretty quickly. I decided to go ahead and have them replace it with a normal scoop, with the idea that if it happens again, I'm going to push pretty hard for a CF replacement.

The CF scoop is the JCW scoop. That would not be covered under factory warranty unless your car came with it. The JCW scoop is rather expensive.

Went there today, asked for the CF scoop as I wanted one anyway. They didn't allow this and said I had to replace it with a chrome one. I guess I am off to the marketplace to see if anyone wants to trade

I asked my dealer what the cost difference would be between them doing the prep on a replacement (painting it Horizon Blue) vs a carbon fiber unit. They said $125 and i said "sold".
