2009 scoop melting???
Yup, my dealer said no go when I asked.
I just had my scoop replaced today. They didn't reinstall the grill for whatever reason, i don't really care, its not like the grill actually did anything anyway. I wonder if they are being instructed not to install the grill?
I went out to see about opening up some of those vents and i noticed my scoop is warped. Just scheduled an appointment w/ my dealer. I am asking them what the cost difference (if any) to have the CF one installed since no painting is required.. Anyone have any photos of a Horizon Blue w/ CF hood school.
hood scoop
opening those vents will void the warranty. The best thing to do is go back to the dealer and have it replaced for free. Since your car might still be in a bumper to bumper warranty, meaning any defect in workmanship can be replaced free of charge provided that you don't break the warranty rule by altering any defective component or part. I woul'd have second thoughts in opening those vents. They also might replace your hood scoop with a carbon fiber type as my dealer did with my car. It's totally up to the dealer since it's a hussle to order the part and have it repainted. also check if your car is still withing warranty period.
just replaced my 2nd melted one with a CF scoop. lets see if this works. not a free replacement, had to pay the diff between painted ($196) and CF ($306)--BUT had $100 worth of mini motoring c/c redemption points, so my total oop was $10+tax
looks freaking bitchin BTW

If my dealer offers me the CF hood scoop for $100 i am SOLD!
09 JCW. Scoop melted at 8,000 miles. Dealer painted and installed a new one and said when it does it again they will install the carbon fiber one. I am just waiting until next summer and I suppose I will be sporting the new carbon fiber scoop.
Dealer offered me a carbon fiber scoop for $135. I am gonna jump on it.
Question: My front hood/bumper is clear bra'ed. Should i have the re-apply the clear bra to the carbon fiber hood scoop?

I should of took a photo. Warped is a much better term for it. The center is depressed giving the whole thing a wave look. Very visible from most angles.
Mine started to warp as well at the top middle. It turns out there's a pin holding it down in that exact spot. Apparantly the pin is pulling down hard enough that when the scoop gets hot and flexible, it creates a depression in that spot. I removed the pin and the warping stopped. Fortunately I caught it right when the warping started so it's barely noticeable.
How bad is "melted"? Mine has a dip in it at the top, middle portion. It isn't melted per say where it drips plastic but it has a noticeable dip when looked at form head on.
im bringing mine in to the dealer this weekend for my first year maintenance. i noticed my hood scoop has that slight dip in the center of the scoop, is this something i can get replaced under warranty? would they give me an excuses or reasons that id have to pay?
You should have full warranty coverage - no questions asked. My dealer gave me no grief whatsoever. It is a clear design defect. I went with the CF and love it - no warpage with the CF. Good luck!
The hoodscoop on my 207mcs warped. I had the dealer replace it but it started again so I got this

Very easy to install. It directs the excess turbo heat out the sides and blocks it from the bonnet. The dealer was of no constructive help.
Highly recommended.
