After over 4 years and 75000 miles of ownership the one thing I truly hate about this car is the g**damn sunroof.

There is nothing I hate about my MINI, don't like the brake dust but can't say I hate it. Today I got three thumbs up or an equivalent jester. It makes me smile and seems to make others smile too.

Is it the Scan Gauge II Ultra Compact 3 in 1 for about $160?
That's the cheapest I've found it but may be a good item to have.

Lack of a coolant gauge when you know the coolant temp is being monitored by the cars computer.
Would all it take is a little software to make it available in the data cluster that houses the digital speedo?
Teutonic stubbornness?

I found that my MCS has MUCH LESS bump steer now that I am no longer on run-flats.

Top three complaints would be: A. Geartrain, B. Geartrain, C. Geartrain.
A. Unreliable. Had to overhaul the gearbox once already and it is still a ticking bomb
B. Wrong ratios. Very tall gears. Problematic on slow speeds.
C. Difficult to operate: Heavy clutch, extremely notchy shift, difficult to engage reverse.
Of course I have a very early 2001 model with the Midland tranny and much have been corrected at later models.
Next in line would be the harsh ride and the rattles.
Did I mention that I love my high maintenance car?

It is the Scanguage-II, Doc. Still $ 160. You can have 4 readouts out of a
bazillion choices. Apparently Oil pressure/temp is not monitored by MINI's
computer. That would have been great, but knowing when the coolant temp
is in the normal operating range does take some of the worry away and gives
you a good idea when it's safe to go heavy on the loud pedal.

I have yet to see it discussed. The Scanguage-II is a very simple and relatively inexpensive way to see virtually every parameter that the
OBD monitors ( up to 4 at any given time ).

BTW, did that little smiley come from Buckeyeplanet ? I was unsuccessful
in copying the link. GO BUCKS ! I'm an ancient grad of '71.

I don't like and may change the red dashboard lights. At certain time for the morning and evening I can't see the gauges as well as I'd like

I've got the Star Bullet wheels and they do a great job of hiding the brake dust. They're exactly the same color as brake dust. I highly recommend them and I think they look awesome too!

Plus, I've got gun metal grey rims which helps also but when you're ready try the EBC's.

Ditching the RF's cured bump steer for me too and the car rides SO much smoother and quieter. Best "mod" you can do, bar none! I had RF's on the 335i I traded so I knew all too well about their shortcomings. I got them off my MCS with 150 miles on it.

Yes, the odd shape of the sun visors make them almost useless, however, I love the side visors. Yes, I said visorS because I replaced the handle on the passenger side with a second visor because I liked the one on my side so much.

Air vents in the front that are behind the steering wheel.
The way the doors want to come back and cut your legs off when getting out of car
The armrest that slides back
And the iPod adaptor that keeps setting its self of repeat and will not play new generation iPod/iPhone
But after all that.... Still puts a smile on my face everytime I drive her!!!!!!

I haven't met an iPod/iPhone that won't work with the adapter. Now charging the iPod is a different question and there are adapters for that.

Very annoying....
Wow, sounds like something is wrong with your car! 2 full seconds to respond to throttle? That's certainly not normal or common! If you are under warranty, I'd have it looked at. The MINIs I've driven don't suffer from that, quite the opposite. My throttle response is pretty much instant, and it's an auto also...
Hope you have luck fixing your problem!

Oh, and someone else mentioned hating the sunroof?! What the heck isn't to like about the awesome sunroof?!

I have owned my Mini R53 for about 1 month. I love the car! (first mini)

The one thing that bothers me about the mini is it is known for having a "go kart" like suspension. But, they give you nothing as far as adjusting the suspension in regards to camber.

The biggest thing is finding an alignment shop that will even work on my mini. Apparently you need a "steering reset tool" that Goodyear, Firestone, Sears and other "alignment" shops do not have in my area.

I found a shop by where i work that will do the alignment but could not do one because my front camber needs fixed. -1.8 degrees on the front right. So, i have to get adjustable camber plates for the front!!

Ohh well, it gives me a reason to work on my car and learn more about it. I figure at some point i will have replaced everything on my car so it will be brand new right?!!!

Don't remember if I posted here or not. So, anyway I love my Justa auto. If I had to complain about something it would be the doors that try to kill you for stopping the car and getting out. I think Comet hates being shut down.

I've seen a few complaints about the sun visors. What's wrong with them? They work just like the sun visors in every other car I've had.

They don't cover as much as the windshield as other cars, huge gap between A-pillar and visor and the same on the side between the visor and the rearview mirror.
