General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Not sure today was first time I drove it in the rain. All I know is that when I got out I took a look before i shut the door an a puddle had ran in the front seat.
The water drip problem, is it on the regular MINI? I'm asking because on the Clubman there is a long ridge, formed on either side of the roof, that is probably keeping the water out of the tiny gutters over the doors.
So does it also happen to you? It does not happen to me.
Idk y your taking this minor problem so personal. im just trying to learn more about this problem so i could avoid it or making something that helps out. just cause it doesnt happen to you doesnt mean its not a problem
I have never had water drip onto my seats, not sure what the difference is. I have seen other complain about this for awhile now, and specifically watched for this on rainy days.
Maybe its the way one opens the door, or how fast one opens it, or some other odd thing.

Happens on my Clubman also. However, I think a number of factors may contribute. Such as: the amount of rain, the angle of the ground/pavement where your car sits, waxed/polished or not, etc. With me, the water is intermittent. My car is polished and I get a lot of beading. The water will sit sometimes, but when it starts to move, it seems to be a fair amount. My complaint, if I had one, wouldn't be so much water on the seat as it would be down my neck.

I know that ridge channels water off the back of my Clubby, especially on the right side for some reason. If I open the rear doors when it is raining hard enough to cause the water to flow on the roof, the corner of my boot gets wet. I have only had trouble with rain coming through the opened passenger doors when it is raining really hard. I think the MCS is worse because of the slope of the roof.
Well, got lazy last night and did'nt put Red to bed in her heated garage. Woke up to a heavy frost on her. Wow, front defroster works great but the rear window defroster totally sucks. At first I thought it was'nt working at all but after about ten miles it started to clear the rear window. No biggie cause Red is usually garage kept but it really is a crappy rear defroster.

Yea, I have the same issue with my 'vert. Of course since I most drive sans top, I didn't notice it for quite a while. When I had to use it, the rear window never cleared even after driving for 30 minutes or more. I took it in to the dealer, they claimed they fixed it (plugged it back in) but I had to use it again the other day and it didn't seem like it was working very well at all. I ended up just cracking the window a bit and then it cleared. But those front ones work very well, even on low they will clear the windows in 30 to 40 seconds once the motor heats up!
I don't want the power outlet hot all the time, I would like power when Ignition is in the "acc" position also. I have a Sat. reciecver that I power throught the outlet and can't use it if just parked and engine off. I was told never leave the Ignition in the "on" position without engine running. Does something to alternator?? I guess I will wire it direct to a fuse box terminal that is powered anytime ignition in acc or on position.
I hate that my JCW side skuttle center got sucked off my MC on the way into work today. $86 later and a little double stick tape is making sure it doesn't happen again.

It was there when I left the house and gone when I got to work. When I slid the new one in, it doesn't feel like it actually locks into place, so I used double stick tape to make sure it can't move. I couldn't get the other side to budge, so I'm not sure why this side was not secured. It has been on for over 2000 miles so I'm shocked it came off.
This isn't a mini-only issue, but today I punched my airbag (again) when a minivan tried to pull into the side of my mini! I may have found the little horn buttons once when I needed a horn, since I've been driving the car.
The stock sound system totally blows...seriously, in a $31k car?! Time to upgrade with the Integral Audio setup...now I just need the confidence to do it myself...
