Mini VS. Porsche! June 21st Road Atlanta
According to a story in the Charleston, SC paper, MINI has bought a 911 to use in the event that Porsche declines to participate. Of course, if that is how it transpires, it would be fair to question if MINI's Porsche driver is going to take a dive on MINI's behalf...
VERY NICE!
What are the specs on each car? Will it be a JCW MINI vs the 911 S? This video depicts an S... or is it a JCW?

Hmmmm... I guess then we can say, "you know, MINI makes an even faster MINI than that one!" I'm surprised they didn't go with the JCW - at least it would be closer HP-wise.
It is weird to see that there is a 200+ difference in horsepower.
I love being the underdog.

Sorry guys its been a really really long week and its not over yet. Here is the correct link. http://www.motoringfile.com/2010/06/...ocky-iv-style/ I think I was asleep when I posted this.
A happening is going to happen.
It is gonna be a good event even if a race does not even happen. I wish I could be there but I gotta take my brother to the eye surgen to get a (Cadilac) removed from his eye.Or is that a Catarac or Kat a rack? I sure as heck can't spell it right. I gotta take him anyway because he won't be able to drive home.
To all of you that get to go please take some pictures and let us that could not go what happened.

Hey 'Orange" Ok all in fun ... but your first photo shows a fun run or track day (note pass in car) ANY track day is for fun and is not a race. most are instructed to run at 9/10s at the most, passing someone at a track day is not a race.
your 2nd two photos either show a track day with a "point by" or one person (the Porsche) showing a gesture for slow down or entering pit.
All for fun yes but that is not a race.
Ohh .... and neither is the carnival track the MINI is setting up.
My MINI would smoke MY Porsche on that track .
That is why MINI is great, even Awesome at Auto-X, but a go cart would smoke both of them .... this is not a race.
Any enthusiast can see that.
Very fun I will admit but not realistic

Thus the last line... "all in fun".
As far as that particular porsche, all weekend he would blow my doors away on the straightaway. By the end of the first day, he wouldn't attempt to pass me on the straightaways.
I asked him what the deal was and he said there was no point because by the second turn, he was having to let me go past.
Like I said, it's all in fun. Even if it were a full blown race, for every time a mini passes anything, I can show you a mini getting it's doors blown off.
I will say this... it does give me some pleasure to out handle a more "superior/expensive" car, we all have a little bit of egos.

Gentlemen, Thank you. I absolutely love a challenge and for the most part, not a hater of any brand. (note I said "most part"...lol)
I learned long time ago not to judge another person's choice in vehicles because one day I may be part of theidr proud ownership.
I remember hating Fieros, Miatas, Harleys and iPhones.... All which I either own now or have on the past. Until you are in another persons shoes, you may never know the truth about why something makes someone smile.
I sold my last vehicle (supercharged convertible C5....which I loved) and got hooked on Minis.
4 Minis later, I still can't explain why I love my Mini so much except I tell them "just drive one"
You really just never know....
Open mind, open mind.
